We've all read a ton of articles about Buddy this week. Am I the only one who thinks that the national media thinks the Sooners are Buddy Hield and the 4 spares?

When the team can sense that Buddy is hot, the other 4 players do go out of the way to make sure he gets his shots. Who wouldn't, right? But it seems they don't give much credit to the other 4 players on the court.

I really hope the other three teams in the F4 think that too, and if they do they will pay.

I have seen articles (often more than 1) about every single starter. The one with the least I'd say is Spangler.

No. There have been several articles written on the other spares!

These guys know Buddy is the star and Buddy deflects the attention to his teammates very well.

If Buddy was a "look at me" type of guy, I could see how resentment and jealously for all of the attention he gets might creep in. He's not that at all. He goes out of his way to include his teammates when he can and give them credit for his success. I think other members of the team are genuinely happy for him. The camaraderie and sense of family they feel is one of the things that makes this team so special.

I think MSProud's point was that the national media is focusing on Buddy. Don't think she believes the other Sooner players are jealous or are not happy for him.

And for the record, I do agree with her that the national media seems to believe that the Sooners are "Buddy and the four dwarfs." As another poster stated, I hope Nova and the other two FF teams believe exactly the same thing.

Which is a big, big mistake. Cousins is a top 20 career scorer. Woodard will almost certainly be one before he leaves and is currently 32. Spangler is a top 40 scorer. Spangler is the number four rebounder and might pass Adams. He is ahead of guys like Webster, Najera and Minor. (Those are four year guys that were quite good). Woodard is 8th on the assist list and will certainly be top 4 and probably 3 before he leaves. Cousins is number 13. Cousins, Hield and Woodard combine for 6 of the top 34 three pointers made in a season. Cousins has shot very well from three point range for three consecutive seasons.

Lattin is five on career blocks and will most likely set the career record. Spangler is 10th.

This team is a lot, lot more than Buddy Hield. But the national media is correct to note that Buddy is amazing and the best player on the team.

I just read an article in the LA Times about Spangler. Sure Buddy is getting the majority of the attention and why shouldn't he?

He should, of course. Has someone said he shouldn't?
