Let's win the B12 tournament in his soph year to start a 3 peat. Then head to the final 4 and elite 8 the next couple seasons. Might not happen ... but it could!!! There are some similarities.

That actually isn't a bad comparison. OU could be a contender next year. Lattin, Buford and McNease need to contribute (or a two player combination of them) but OU should be really strong next season. If the Sooners become a top 25 defensive team, they are going to be very hard to beat next year. They were hard to beat this year.

As long as he doesn't get a tooth in his elbow in the first round...

Buddy's no where close to the all around player Hollis was at this point in his career. Buddy's good, but nothing close. Don't get me wrong, Buddy could get a lot better and who really knows how good he'll be by the end of his career. But he can't really be mentioned in the same breath as Hollis Price imo right now.

Actually, Buddy is a better player at the same stage of their careers. Of course, Hollis had a meteoric rise from his sophomore to junior season that have only been matched by Stacey King and Ryan Minor. A lot of that had to do with Hollis playing out of position. He was trying to play the point, but he just wasn't really good at it. Once Quannas joined and Hollis slid over, he became an OU legend.

Buddy is averaging 5 more ppg, shooting at a better percentage, shooting 3s at a better percentage, rebounding at a better rate, and recording steals slightly less than Hollis did his sophomore year. Hollis was a much better distributor, but he was also really our PG that year before White transferred in the next year.

EDIT: Looks like Wayman said the same things. I should type faster.

I agree with both of you. Buddy is 5" taller than Hollis and a much better rebounder, but Hollis was probably a little better outside shooter..... teams could focus more on him since he didn't have the help that Buddy does. I think Buddy is a better slasher and plays pretty good defense (so did Hollis). Hollis was probably a little quicker and better passer.

I like both players!

Definitely think Buddy is a better player offensively then Hollis was at this point but he's also more naturally talented then Hollis was - he needs to get back to defending like he did last year though. Maybe one of the most disappointing things is that he really has regressed as a defender. He can easily be one of the best in the country if he puts his mind to it.
