Buddy traded

I know this probably belongs in the NBA thread, but figured it could be added here for those that don't look on there. Looks like Buddy has been traded to the Kings, along with a couple other pieces and draft picks, for DeMarcus Cousins.

Buddy, tyreke Evans, and two picks traded to kings for cousins.

Interesting move for New Orleans. I don't see cousins resigning there.

Yeah, the one thing the Pelicans needed to put them over the top was a dominant center.

Oh wait...

Ehh... seems like he went from one organization who has no idea what they're doing to another.

Management considerations aside (which I'd put the kings prolly absolute dead last), I'd rather buddy have Davis to play off of.

But maybe buddy can be the absolute guy for the kings. Well see

Well, the good news is that he'll have a longer leash and more playing time in Sacramento. The bad news is that there is no one there to create shots for him anymore.

I love Buddy, but unless the Kings knew there was ~100% chance of Boogie leaving, they just got swindled.

Will he get more playing time??? Ben Mclemore, Temple, Evans, Affalo all there at the 2/3 positions plus I think the Kings really like that Rookie Richardson. I think if the Kings can tank and get a top 5 pick plus the pels pick which will be top what 17-18 and get another big time rookie in there it might be interesting.. Just will take several years I'm guessing now for the kings.

I guess this explains buddy's nut shot....

Seriously though, I don't get this move for either team. Surely the kings could have gotten more than this

And I'm not sure how DMC and AD will fit together

Re: Buddy traded

The Kings already have a lot of SG's but they have basically cashed it in for this season. That probably means more playing time for Buddy.

Great trade for Pelicans (even though I can't stand Cousins). You also have to look at it for the Kings: Cousins wasn't able to attract another star to come play with him, they would probably lose their pick this year if he stays (top 10 protected to Chicago), and it seemed like it was getting to the point of Carmelo & the Knicks with Cousins.

Buddy may get more playing time, but the Kings are going to be the worst team in the league for at least the next two years unless they land the #1 pick. The only halfway decent player in Sacramento is washed-up Rudy Gay.

Who has a blown ACL and an opt out clause after this season (though I doubt at this point he'll use).

So the kings lineup will be what?

Darren Collison
Buddy
Evans
Tolliver
Koufos

With Matt barnes, mclemore coming off bench

I think Cauley-Stein starts in one of the frontcourt positions. They like Mclemore a ton, I wouldn't be surprised if Buddy comes off the bench for scoring on the 2nd team. Hopefully they get a PG in this loaded class coming up (I love D'Aaron Fox).

Figures. I never go to Thunder games, but was looking forward to seeing Buddy play in person this coming Sunday in downtown OKC.

Trav, like you, I don't go to NBA games, but purchased a couple near courtside tickets for the pelican's game on Sunday (bought them last summer after the draft).

If anyone has an interest in buying a couple really good tickets, let me know.

BTW, if he can limit the "crazy" to a minimum, it might be that Cousins/Davis is the best big men tandem in the last 20 years. Holiday and Hill are still there. You wonder how good they will be.

The Kings just imploded their roster. Starting from scratch again now.
