Don't bet much. They are really high on him down there. He will beat out a returning senior starter and is expected to be their big gun. They are on a post season ban.

I talked to a former coach of his a few months back who advised him against transferring. He didnt think it was a good choice for him. Good luck to him either way.

Why is it so far fetched? He was getting 13 a game for us playing limited minutes and he will much more a green light there than under Kruger. I do agree though he won't be very efficient getting it, but what do you see him averaging?

It is a shame he transferred. I think OU would be a better team with Newell assuming he wanted to be part of the team and do things Coach Kruger's way. If he was going to be a negative virus he would not be helpful.

I agree that he is a good player, but like others before him (Bobby Maze, Drew Lavender, Tony Neysmith, Ray Willis, et al), there's not any sense in degrading the player or lamenting the loss. What's done is done.

I like the attitudes and work ethic of our current team and believe that we've got a lot of room for improvement.

No.

But an undersized, volume-shooting shooting guard with average at best handles probably isn't going to help OU. Especially when you consider it'd probably mean no Cousins.

i'd take newell over cousins from what we have seen so far. Newell wasn't afraid to get in the lane and could finish

Cousins is a plus defender, while Newell was a minus defender. There is no arguing that Calvin was a better offensive player, but he didn't do the other things that make a basketball team good, both on the court and off the court.

While I don't believe Cousins will ever score as many career points as Newell, I do think his impact on the team as a whole will eventually outweigh Calvin's scoring ability by a good sight.

I would take Calvin back in a heartbeat because he could fill it up, but I am also pleased with what Cousins can become (Austin Johnson anyone?).
