In a recent interview posted on the CF website the head coach commented that he couldn't be more pleased with Calvin's contribution. He noted that that Calvin was earning his keep on defense. And, like virtually everyone else coming off a year layoff, he expected Calvin's offense to start matching his practice performence more closely as time goes along.

That, coupled with the fact that Calvin is not in natural position. He is playing the point. And along with the knowledge that they have two dependable and consistant scorers in their shooting guard and a big, Calvin is contributing in a positive way. He beat out a returning senior starter to get into the starting line up and is doing very well with his new team.

I don't care how good his defense is (and I doubt it's that good, I saw him play in Norman), when you take the volume of shots that he is taking, and you shoot the percentages I listed above, you are HURTING your team. Period. Those are 2011-2012 Carl Blair, Cam Clark, and Sam Grooms numbers.

I've got nothing against the guy. My updating of his stats is more directed at the OP in this thread, than at Newell himself. I was looking up some stuff last night, saw UCF, and decided to look at what Newell had done.

No, you are trying to win an old arguement. I don't blame you for that. But, his coach likes him, so you are wrong on this one.

You are clueless.

What? Really? Calvin's coach likes Calvin and his contribution and you don't. I defer to the coach and that makes me clueless. Are you scooting out on a limb and sawing it off behind yo again?

What do you think his coach is going to say, publicly? That he hates Newell? That he wishes he had never transferred to UCF? That the kid stinks?

What his coach says about him has NOTHING to do with this thread. Nothing at all. Go back and read the OP. Here, I'll even quote it for you here to save you the time:

He becomes eligible for UCF soon, with the level of competition he's facing added with the uptempo system they run I can see him averaging 17 a game making all conference and possibly putting them in contention for an NCAA bid

What in the world does my posting of his stats, and that OP, have to do with ANYTHING that you or his coach is saying? Again, nothing. Stop trying to turn this into something it isn't. And stop replying to me. We don't talk, remember?

I will take who we have. We don't need the performance above.

How many shots is he taking?

I really think he would have helped us this year off the bench, especially with Hield moving into the starting lineup. Long term, we're better off without him.

We only won 15 games last year...We could have used him last year and this year as well. But he's gone, along with Gallon and TMG who we could have used as well.

We could have used TMG and Gallon if they had undergone a character transplant. They would not have been a good fit on a team that actually plays as a team..
