Can Castiglione fire Capel on his own?

I remember the board of regents had to hold a special meeting because a majority vote was required to terminate John Blake's contract. Castiglione couldn't do it himself. How would basketball be different?

That brings up another memory. Do you remember the long speech CS Lewis III gave after the vote condemning the board's action then the long speech he gave in praise of the team at Owen Field welcoming tham home after the National Championship?

I think all Joe C really does is make a recommendation to Boren and the regents. With that said, I would imagine his recommendation carries tremendous weight.

I would have to agree with you Denver. He is paid by them to be the Athletic Director. They are all very smart and would let him do his job. If Joe wants Jeff gone they will most likely listen as long as Joe has well thought out reasons, and had a plan in place for a new coach.

David Boren is the greatest president in OU history. That being said, I'll be tremendously disappointed if he lets Capel stick around because he wants to appease his wife. I really hope it doesn't come to that.
