No way Gillispie is going to accept the Tech job now that OU is open. You have to think he would want to interview here. I know they have a better arena, but overall, we have better athletic facilities and are a better basketball program than ****ing Tech.

So what were we supposed to do? Was Joe C supposed to let those kids hold the program hostage? Hopefully, the new head coach can convince these guys to stick around. After all, guys like Pledger, Fitz, and Clark have played together for a whole year now. Why would they want to disperse to separate schools instead of sticking together for a shared future?

Maybe so, but where are they going to go? They are all going to have to sit out a year and to a place where they won't get any more playing time than they are already getting. How many players who were here when Sampson went to IU left? None that were already on the team, as far as I can remember.

Glad you can have blind enthusiasm...

Before we all get giddy...would be nice to see the replacement first...

I do think this will have a positive effect on the program (i was in the keep Capel Camp) but ONLY if the right guy is hired...

I hope HTOWN is correct and the candidate is already in place just waiting to be announced...if we fired Capel without a replacement in mind or agreed upon we could be in for a let down...There are a few jobs open right now that are as good or better than OU's current situation...

So you blame Capel's critics rather than Capel and/or Joe C.? It seems to me those that wanted him gone had no real influence on the decision.

I hope this works out for OU. I have to say, I did not think this would happen. I don't get why Joe C. gave him this year. What did he expect? I wonder what happened behind closed doors? I almost think some big money people pushed for this because winning 5 games and a first round Big XII game was better than I expected.
