Capel making all the right moves.

He still got a job from Jeff Capel after HIS FATHER WAS IMPLICATED BY THE NCAA; name another guy in the country that would have done the same. How sad that some want to compare a quitter and a cheat to a guy whom, to date, has only been indicted in having a crappy season.

We have no information about his involvement in the Gallon/Warren thing. And if he or his assistants are involved that is 1000 times more than anything Sampson did.

Great, and until we do then STFU.

We should just hire Kelvin again...oh, wait, maybe not. Some of you goobers still think that he got fired or something.

I know. Everytime someone says something about they wish Sampson was back well....dude bailed on his own. Got OU on probation and bailed.

It's almost sad. Could you imagine Self hiring Roy's son? Or Ford going after a Sutton? The lengths that Jeff has gone to being civil and yet some of these people still hate him for not being Samsung.

I like your postitive spin and what not however, if you talk to someone close or inside the program you would go out and get drunk. This is a train wreck and if a coach was involved with Tiny getting money Capel is screwed.

Yes Big O is leaving

until this post I thought I was in the twilight zone, weird thread

I have never posted about other posters but Mr. B!!! is drinking Capel's kool-aid... Sampson is gone none of this today is his fault, his son is a GA manager not a coach and he has nothing to do with any recruitment or practice. Kelvin got a better job offer and he took it, was it in the midst of phone-gate? yes, but had he not left we would have had two of the best college basketball players to play the last four year span. (before I get bashed, I said best players who played their entire four year span) And we would have more than likely made the NCAA tournament for the 13th or 14th time under him.

Capel has created this mess himself, whether it be by hiring the wrong assistants or whatever he has done himself. This is all on him and those of you (the few) who think he has the program in a better state than Sampson were drunk, high, or unborn five years ago and/or the 12 years before that. We recruited guys that wanted to play hard not prima-donna's who cried if they were told they were the greatest players on the team.

If you are one of those trying to say this is anyone but Capel's fault you are sadly mistaken, this is five years after he was hired...there is no one to blame but himself and it isn't getting any better anytime soon. So i'll agree with Soonersam...worst thread ever

The OU basketball program is not free falling. It was free falling when he took it over. He did a masterful job in his first 3 years of getting it back on track.

In his 4th year he hit a small bump in the road due to a lack of talented upperclassmen, too many inexperienced or over recruited underclassmen, magnified by some chemistry issues between the most talent underclassmen and devastated by mono and a season ending injury to by far the best player on the team.

Now imagine Capel was not heading into his 5th year, imagine he was a newly hired head coach. Every move would be applauded. Ray Willis and Big O are not good enough to contribute to a winning team in the Big XII, so they are gone. TMG, did not want to be a student athlete, he is gone. Tiny Gallon might have been involved with a financial advisor and an assistant coach might be implicated. An investigation ensues and the assistant coach is gone and Tiny's status is up in the air.

Meanwhile, Capel has some nice recruits coming in and has his head down working on a couple more to fill the gaps. Exactly what he should be doing and based on his past performance, OU will be right in the thick of the Big XII title chase sooner rather than later.

It feels like we are free falling. When is the good news coming?

The good news is that we got 2 really good recruits coming in, 1 who has a chance to really be special in Cam Clark.

Until Capel quits there will be no good news.

I have a feeling this is a growing sentiment amongst OU fans, and not just those on the internet. If something negative comes from the Tiny situation and the NCAA gets involved, you could see some movement from alums and donors that would make it tough for Jeff to survive.

Even worse, you could see the LNC become the Coors Event Center and have 500 to 1000 at home games.

Hopefully, nothing will happen with that and Jeff will get the program back and the fans support with it.

I not sure it's worth the possibility of losing Cam and TJ, if we fire Capel. I hope Capel is given another year, if for no other reason. We need some players.
