Thought he looked quicker on defense than he did in the exhibition game. That fake he threw on the UK defender was nifty.

Yeah, this was a huge step tonight. Hopefully he can take over the PG spot because Pledger is not a PG. He is a shooter. Pledge having to handle the ball is a big reason we didnt make any 3's in the 1st half. He needs to be running off picks so they can't just key on Cade, and Cade needs to keep driving and let Pledge be on the wing for Blair to penetrate and kick out to.

Other than that one stretch where he turned it over a few times in a row, he was shockingly good in the second half tonight.

Skyvue said in the game thread that he was sick the past couple weeks, and I believe it, because the reasons originally given for his not playing do not pass the smell test after seeing him play tonight.

Blair is the PG...period. He ran the offense extremely well to today and won the starting job IMO. Newell did not play in the second half.

I just went from wanting TJ Franklin to get minutes over him to now wanting him in the starting lineup. :D

I love the way he handles the ball and see the floor, he also played much better defense.

This is the carl blair myself, and many others on the board, expected at the beginning of the year when we voted that he would be the starting point guard. Proud of the kid for his work today

:blair:

He's the only guy we have that can get in the lane. If he can make better decisions once there, he's going to help this team.

Blair was one of the big reasons we didn't get run out of the gym. He played both ends of the court, and I found myself especially confident when he ran our O - either in the full court or the half court. He's also adept at creating for himself from time to time. I was impressed. :clap

Blair convinced me that he should be the staring point guard when I watched him play in the second half against Texas Southern. It quickly became obvious to even the least knowledgeable fan (like myself) that the posters who were saying Blair couldn't play at this level were wrong, as usual.

Blair needs to start at the point then we rotate Cade, Pledger and Cam at the 2 and 3. Also, Thompson can't defend so some other big needs to step up.

HOD was good, he showed why Capel brought him here. He is better at running the offense then Bird. Bird and Cade may need to start and bring Cam off the bench. Then again bring Bird off the bench does bring in some one who can score. As of right now OU does not have any one to come off the bench and score points.
