I am very impressed with her. She is quicker than I had expected and really seems to be in the right place at the right time. Also her passing was very good. I expect to see her in the rotation when we get to Big 12 games.

She seems to have a very well rounded game. Going to get better!

Edwards got a lot more minutes because they are limiting Carter's minutes due to a nagging injury.

but Carter looked as good as Edwards in limited time. The fight for minutes at the 3 guard spots is going to be insane.

It may be due to the injury, but I thought Edwards was more effective than Carter last night. Carter demonstrated probably more upside of what she might be able to do. But, Edwards actually did it quite well. I know that Sherri is high on both, but seems higher on Carter. I'm just glad we have both.

I guess my surprise is that I'm so used to having freshman point guards throw the ball into the first row and make passes that look great, but don't actually get to the receiver. Edwards was stunningly effective. It caught me off guard.

It shouldn't be a surprise that Edwards was better than any player Cameron had.

DRob and Hardin were far superior to anyone that the opposition had in their early games and preseason games as well, but they managed to throw the ball away a lot. Freshmen, no matter how good they are, tend to make mistakes. Edwards just didn't.

It could be a real battle for the point guard spot next year.

Edwards turned the ball over 4 times. I'm not complaining because I think she has potential but to say she didn't turn the ball over is not correct.

As much as she handled the ball? Four times? What was DRob's average as a senior? 3.8?

The archives apparently do not include stats for exhibition games when DRob was a freshman but we know that in her first game against Maryland she only had 1 turnover and in her second game against Tenn. she had 2 turnovers.

Bottom line is, 4 turnovers in a game is not good whether it's an exhibition game against a weak opponent or the final four.

PG battle for next year
Edwards v Carter v Gabby Ortiz (highest rated PG since Drob)

that's a battle royale

I hope it is a great battle as that is what pushes both players to be better. I wish we had someone pushing Aaryn right now but she is well in the lead for SG.

I will go out on a limb and say Gabbi will be a 4 year starter at PG if she isn't injured.

I think carter Most comfortable position is the 2. The battle
For the 2 spot would be Little v carter v Williams v Penzo
Williams and carter can play both the 1 and 2

A prudent judge of basketball talent would use more than television observation of a freshman PG in one exhibition game before labeling her ""the best point guard that we have had as a freshman". Hopefully you are correct with the passing of time this season. Having seen her in person the first exhibition and will be observing in the second exhibition tonight I see lots of talent in Edwards but not enough to date to label her the best freshman ever.

I might concur in time but not until she brings nightly for a dozen games or so. Fundamentally sound yes. Best ever not yet and perhaps never.

An astute poster might actually pay enough attention to the source of information to realize that the statement that was made was made by Sherri Coale in the post-game press conference that this was the best performance by a freshman point guard that she has had. I think she also made reference to it being the best first game performance, thus, some specificity. At the same time, she wished she had Morgan back. Clear enough?

mystery,
2 guard battle next year IF Carter plays the two
Little (who everyone is raving about) v Carter v Wyatt v Penzo v LaNeisa
And you have Chelsea Dundee arriving in 2016.

Exactly my point. Which is it the best performance by a freshman point guard that she has had or the best freshman point guard she has had. I would submit that your statement is a sybellishment of Sherri's statement a propensity you seem to frequent.

Edwards may prove you to be correct in time, like January/February, but I will stay with Sherri's perspective that it was the best first game by a freshman point guard nothing more, nothing less. One game does not a season make. Premature to state otherwise.

Since I reported her claim and made no claim of any kind, your point?

That's not what she said! She said, "TT probably had one of the best opening nights of any freshmen we've ever had." There are two important words/phrases that differs from your "interpretation" of what Sherri said. First, probably implies a likelihood, but not necessarily certainty. Second, "one of the best" means that TT is among other company with regard to freshmen debuts.

In short, if you're going to rip someone and use Sherri's words as support, at least be accurate. Thanks.
