Hearing around the offices at OU that Chad may be looking for another gig, like a head coaching job or another high-profile school. Completely voluntary is the rumor.

Do you think he might have been encouraged to look around to make an opening for Colton? I think Chad is a good coach. Better than some posters on here who mention him when wanting Coale to change some assistants. JMHO

That last sentence should say Chad is a better coach than some posters give him credit for. I think he is our best assistant. Again, JMHO

Without question he is a good coach. Pam is our post coach Chad takes care of guards. The worst part is if this is true it is posted here first instead of hearing it straight from the horses mouth. No one wants to stop anyone from taking steps to better themselves but as an assistant chad has spent his entire career telling recruits this is the place. Wish him all the best if true.

If true, I would think it would be an attempt to find his last job. He graduated in 93 which means he is probably around 47-48. You may have one career move left. In a year or so, you will probably be regarded as too old to assume an HC job. You might be limited to a defensive specialist type job.

He may have possibly thought that he might inherit the job from Sherri. But, I would anticipate that the replacement for Sherri is probably about thirty and female. I would be looking at people like Britney Brown of TCU or Dionnah Jackson Durrett of Mississippi State who is considered an up-and-coming star. Brown is probably about 32. Jackson is probably about 35.

Could be he wants to be a head coach. Could be he knows he won’t be here. Who knows.

Sherri is not leaving until Colton can inherit the job. jmo

Oh, and I do not think Chad can get a job that pays him what he is making plus his wife works for OU. Makes me wonder why he is looking. Of course, maybe he is looking to SEE if he can make more and/or be a head coach with the potential to make more.

And I don't see any of the assistants wanting to work under Colton except maybe Pam and, of course, Jan might be willing to stay a couple of years to help with the transition.

All just my speculation. I would love to see Brittney Brown back here if she could be successful. I really enjoyed her personality.

On paper Jackson-Durrett is an ideal replacement for Sherri. She is a Sooner which I normally think of as a negative in that if often keeps the powers from looking at all candidates with an open mind. She has 4 years of professional experience. She has been an assistant at several schools so she has gotten great exposure to multiple coaching ideas and techniques. Most importantly she has 3 years experience under Vic Schaefer whom I consider one of the top 4-5 coaches in the business and definitely the best defensive coach in the business. I think Jackson-Durrett theoretically would be an ideal choice.

In fact Syb you have convinced me that it might be time for Sherri and Lon to make a joint retirement and turn the basketball reins over to Jackson-Durrett and a young aggressive men's coach similar to what Tech got in Beard.::D

Rather easy to convince you to do what you already want to do. Don't think it's a good idea yet. We'll talk further after you have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

OK! Team vote. Who gets to the Hall of Fame first?!

I vote Spock. He actually knows something about basketball.

I think a new face in the assistant group could be a good thing for Sherri. Depending upon who she hires.

Sherri retiring??? Hopefully recruiting continues to hit last year's level and the roster/talent and success makes that an amusing topic for all rather than wish fulfillment for part of the fanbase.

There is some mention of each of these with regards to OU. If OU were to get two of these, would that be a strong enough class to consider the program moving forward? A class of four including two of these might be solid.

I don't know if the addition of an assistant to a twenty-three year old program changes much. It would have to be someone special, maybe a head coach in training. From what I saw this year, I would love to have a guard that could teach guard defense, maybe choices. We will be guard heavy next year. Somebody did an excellent job of teaching Vivi post moves. She was green.

She always says KK taught her all the moves she uses and helped her develop her style of play.

I think if OU were to sign a JUCO big this spring, add the best senior transfer available regardless of position (save for PG). That's priority one.

But back to your question. Two top 30 kids is the goal. One over 6-2 is the ideal. One player over 6-3 is a requirement from the 4 kids.
That's 3 classes in a row bringing in top talent. That's how you close and erase the gap with UT and start splitting series with Baylor again.
I wish we had more recruiting info. But Shaina winning FOTY has to help OU with Amihere on some level.

If he does. I would love to see a young up and coming woman coach. C Coale needs to go out and get some experience. I would love to get Amihere and Jones. Yet, I could see Gregory, Brown, and Scott. Then in 2020 go after a top PG.

Not on my list to reach a goal that you already perceive you have attained.
