Chris Washington of Connors State

Well, I certainly hope we can beat out Oral Roberts, Ball State, Western Kentucky, Wright State, Wichita State and Murray State.

These are quotes from a guy who watches a running ton of Juco ball...the Stringtown native has limited talent and long heart, "warrior" is the term used..really only 6' 5 1/2" with decent hops and a nice wingspan, limited range...relentless worker..would have to use quickness vs bigs in Big 12--a mini Moses Malone for the old timers on board--very scrappy...Strictly a post player...Mid Major size--Big 12 heart..Kelvin Sampson kind of guy..

I just got off the phone w my ol hoop buddy who attended a running ton of Juco games this year--and those are his quotes....

My take..

6' 5 1/2 " is definitely a dis advantage in the B12--they list him at 6'7" tho....I'd rather have him in there scrappin than someone out there not hustling...I've never seen him play tho....1st team All America has to mean something!

This sounds accurate. He looked 6'5/ 6'6 to me. The one thing about the big12 South is that 3 starting pfs are going to be the same size.

I have seen him and can't think of a Sampson/Capel era player to really compare him to. Not nearly as athletic as Abercrombie or Selvy. Not a shooter or scorer like Najera or Nate, though he does play with some of Eduardo's heart. He is definitely not a player OU would go after in an early signing period, but may just be the kind of player who can help us scratch out some victories until we can reload the roster. At this point he is probably not a bad option.

Sounds like just the type of player we need like an Abercrombie or William "Cheese" Davis.

A ferocious rebounder and can play defense...something we lacked this past year. Nobody other than Cade and Crocker wanted to rebound this past year, or play defense.

Colleges including Oral Roberts, Ball State, Western Kentucky, Wright State, Wichita State and Murray State have shown interest. “I visited Oral Roberts and I liked it,” Washington said. “I’m not sure about going there. I’m going to visit Murray State on April 8.

If we can't beat out those schools for a player, our program really is in trouble.

At least 2 of t hose schools are probably better than we are right now.

Your being generous...ORU, Wichita State, Wright State and Murray State are probably all better, or were this past season. Don't know if that means they will be better next year, but we still have the better tradition, facilities, support, etc. So, I'd say we are still a better program than all 4.

I have heard a Jameel Haywood (hope I spelled his name right) type of player.

PERFECT! I said a few weeks ago that that's exactly the type of player OU needs. Someone tough that will do all the garbage work, play defense, rebound and add some toughness in the middle. If Tiny returns this is the perfect kind of complement to him.

Nothing gets me more excited than beating out Oral Roberts for a recruit.

I wish we could have beat ORU out for future NBAerJeremy Hazell.

or Tulsa out for Jamel McClean

If you want to develop your own opinion of Washington based on play, here's a link to the NJCAA.org archived championship tournament. Watch the Connor's vs. Walter one on March 17th.

You realize Hazell played for Seton Hall don't you? Is it possible he signed with ORU because no one thought he would qualify?

The second leading returning scorer in both the Big East and the NCAA period (after Luke Harangody), Jeremy Hazell will likely attempt to stake his claim as arguably the best scorer in college basketball this year. The 23-year old (24 in March) junior is quite a bit older than most players he’ll match up with, but has regardless been putting up impressive numbers since the moment he stepped on the floor at Seton Hall. Hazell initially committed to play at Oral Roberts but was forced to attend prep-school after failing to qualify, something Pirates coach Bobby Gonzales probably feels fortunate about considering the way things turned out.

I am sure you also knew McLean played one season in Tulsa before transferring to Xavier.

That being said, you are completely missing the point of the post.

He's visiting Saturday.

Is he in town today? Is this still on? I don't see his visit listed on rivals, scout or anywhere else. I hope you are right DM because I would like to add him.

He visited. He wasn't offered yet. He played with the team. OU is coming to work him out this week. If OU offers it will be a three team race between ORU, OU, and Murray. I think if OU offers he'll commit. OU's main selling point right now is pt. That may be why they are slow playing him in hopes to get someone else with the promise of pt.

Does anyone know how many official visits we even have left? I think the NCAA allows 12 per year. We have had a number of guys visit who have not signed so we have to be close to reaching that number. I would think the staff would have gotten Neal and Washington to come without officials. I hope we don't have more scholarships to give than we do visits to offer.
