Classy Mulkey!

Was this the one where Sims started a fight, and Griner and two others left the bench to join in the festivities---an automatic one game suspension, except that they didn't make them sit since it was in the NCAA tournament and would have resulted in the loss of Baylor from the TV screens.

No it was the Elite Eight game vs Louisville in OKC where Kim nearly tore her jacket and shirt off.

When the sea-hags play in Norman, the first time Mulkey gets out of line (which should happen in less than three minutes), the students should really let her have it. Something along the lines of, "Queen of Evil! Queen of Evil!"

They should really let the REFS have it as they are the ones intimidated and allow her to rant! She thrives on getting the crowd to pay attention to her and NOT what's going on the court. That's why she's always in the officials ear so there are less eyes on the fouling her players are getting away with!

How many of you ever heard an employee of the University of Oklahoma use profanity in a class?

Depends on what you call profanity. I had a Spanish teacher in my freshman year (1964) who cussed many times. For those of you who were around at that time, she was married to Orin, the Pizza guy.

I think the faculty thought that if you couldn't express your ideas without profanity that you were not sufficiently educated to be a college graduate. That's a bit old school, but it probably should be a standard.

To get back to Mad Mulkey, why do you think she would get that out of control at a moment when the outcome was basically decided?

Does she have some kind of mental problem? Or does she just have no self control?

Billy Tubbs used to have some fun with officials and gave them trouble at times, but it never seemed hateful and out of control. How did he manage that, and why are Kim's tirades different?

Kim reminds me of Bob Knight. Both are great coaches but their tirades are over the top.

Mike Stoops is in that same category except he wasn't a great head coach.

I agree that Mike S is animated, but I have never seem him try to attack an official and have to be restrained.

Is part of that possibly the different atmosphere between a football field and a basketball arena? In BB, things may seem more personal than on the FB field.

Mike is more likely to take it out on his players than the officials.

I read Griners book a couple weeks ago. Makes me less of a fan of Mulkeys. Just the way she treated her.

You are right about Bobby Knight. He was a loose cannon at times.

But he also got a bum rap occasionally. Did you see the video on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson showing that the time he threw the chair he was actually just tossing it across the court to an old fellow with a cane who didn't have a seat? ;)

And is Kim really a great coach? She isn't even paid enough to afford clothes that fit. When the game gets "hot", she even has to take off her "Green Jersey" to be able to have some freedom of movement (so to speak).
