I think you misunderstood. He's too small to play C but not PF. His problem at PF is he doesn't have a perimeter game. He doesn't have an outside shot, doesn't handle the ball well, and doesn't move his feet well enough to guard a perimeter player per the NBA scouting reports. He's going to have to learn how to play facing the basketball and will likely do that in the D league.
Too bad he couldn't stay at KU for another couple of years. He didn't start playing basketball until HS where he was bigger and stronger than his opponents. Players like Deandre Jordan or Dwight Howard would destroy him in the paint.
He simply doesn't have the tools to play PF right now and doesn't have the size for Center.
