I guess this is as good a time as any for a thread like this. What’s everyone think, based off what we have seen so far?

I think 7 or 8 wins is the most likely outcome. It’s critical we get off to a good start; three of the first five are at home, and three of the five are against unranked teams. That’s followed up by games against the top two teams in the country, so feels like we need to go 3-2 in that stretch to avoid getting buried.

I just wonder if JN will be back. As crazy as it sounds given the type of injury, I actually think there is a better chance we will get him back than Jones. We need the help. My fear all along has been that our lack of athleticism will show up in conference play. It sounded like JN was one of our better athletes from the limited articles about him in the summer. That could help a lot, because Forsythe and Goodine will have a hard time matching athletic SEC guards. Even if JN can’t jump in and find his offensive footing, I’d hope he could help us defensively, and we need lots of help there. We are barely in the top 70 defensively on KenPom.

Moser said in his post game that OU has 16 quad one games left. That’s insane! Pretty much the entire conference slate is Q-1. Now obviously that will probably change once conference starts. I think they’ll win 8. Is that enough? I guess we’ll wait and see. I do think this is the year Moser finally beats Texas.

I think the game Saturday is telling on how good we can be. Even if we lose, keep it somewhat close playing on the road against a bigger team, will show a lot for rest of season. Especially if we don’t get the feeling that they got behind and quit.

Can you edit your post and still setup a poll? Otherwise, I think you should copy/paste, delete and redo it with a poll for tracking and extra fun

I saw that quote, which was unfortunately part of another comment he made complaining about not making the tournament last season. And he already is showing a misunderstanding of the NET. Even using the current numbers, there are at least a handful of games that aren’t Q-1, and that number will likely increase as certain teams struggle in conference play. It’s still an incredibly tough schedule, but he either doesn’t understand the numbers or is (more likely) embellishing as part of a campaign that will last till Selection Sunday.

Schedule for reference. I’ll go with 8 wins.

Going to be a slog but that’s not new after the last decade of Big 12 play.

Thanks for including that.

It’s crazy that only five Big 12 teams are ranked. After all the brutal seasons, this is the year I think we may have been able to actually finish .500.

I think best case is 10-8 but I am going with 9-9.

We can’t have home games like last year where we just stunk against Texas; choked against Texas Tech; and screwed up at the end against Houston.

I am hoping for 1 home loss and 2 road wins to get us to 10-8 but that’s asking a lot. 1 road win is more likely which puts even more pressure on home games.

That Texas is a w. Florida is winnable ole miss on the road is winnable
