Crutchfield to Arkansas(?)

It’s not out of the realm of possibility that Harmon could decide to go elsewhere and never show up to OU because of this. He would likely be released and free to transfer without sitting out as well.

What world would that happen in? Find me even a single example of a kid getting a release and being immediately eligible because of an assistant leaving. I'll be impressed if you can because I don't think it's ever happened. Assistants leave all the time, if kids got releases because of that, letters of intent would be completely meaningless.

What?

$125k raise at Arkansas. Would have stayed if he were to be considered head coach in waiting. Obviously Kruger has 2 years or less remaining to coach. So there is your answer.

I'll take that bet on Kruger. I seriously doubt he is only here two more seasons.

The argument on the women's program losing money is stupid. I'm pretty sure a few years ago (think 5-7 years), there wasn't a women's program in the country generating a profit. ALL women's programs lose money. MAYBE somebody like Connecticut has changed that a bit, but I doubt it. According to the link below (2018), OU's women's program was 13th in the country in revenues.

I'm guessing what happens with football and men's basketball has almost nothing to do with any of the other sports. I know it's one department, but you don't punish the two programs that actually generate a profit, IF you have to punish anybody, you punish those losing money.

Bru McCoy requested a release due to Kingsbury's departure, and he was only OC for a few days. It's the most absurd thing ever, and I'm not sure where the case stands now, but there was optimism at one point he'd get a release.

2 weeks from Today, I’ll be in Norman for good!

Guess your possibility ran out

Harmon's an OU guy and has family who have lived in Oklahoma forever. He's coming here to play for OU, not to play for Crutch.

Exactly!! The only players that choose a school solely because of who their assistant coach is are players who Arizona, USC, or any other school who has recently had their asst coaches caught in a scam.

De'Vion Harmon begs to differ:
Yeah this one Hurt. Thank you for believing in me when the rest of the World wasn’t checking for De’Vion Harmon. You gave me an opportunity that only I could have dreamed of... Love You Coach❤️ #GodBless

Also, it's been announced that Crutchfield will be associate head coach at Arkansas.

Refers to himself in the third person. Great.

Do we have any more news about Price or Williamson?

Price is a favorite son, of course, but he has not been coaching as long as Williamson - who has the strong Oklahoma ties (especially NE OK) and Texas ties too.

I think either would be good, no idea if they would be an upgrade over Crutchfield - I leave that to the hoops experts here - but on paper Williamson appears better.

Price has very little coaching experience. 2014 - Houston, Director of Player Development and 2013-14 Texas Legends, Assistant Coach NBA Developmental League

Williamson has more experience for sure - Washington State, Illinois State, Tulane, Wichita State, Texas A&M, SMU and TCU in addition to Memphis and Tulsa - where he was even the interim head coach for 20 games or so.

Lots of Texas experience, which would be a plus for him for sure.

That’s a reach, even for you. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Harmon’s tweet. He wants others to know Coach Crutch was important to him.

And, for those who believe Crutchfield leaving may cause De’Vion to rethink his commitment. Forget it! Coach Kruger has always been the center of his attention in every interview I have seen or read. It’s also common knowledge that De’vion’s mother thinks LK hung the moon. He’s not going anywhere except Norman, Oklahoma this summer.

This made Sooner04 chuckle. The use of third person by De'Vion Harmon was the first thing Sooner04 noticed.

There are few more in the running.
