That is what I am hearing in Springfield. The Bears radio guy has a sports talk show each evening and he insinuated that C-Mart has been talking to Joe and may end up interviewing.

I really like Cuonzo. I won't tell you he is my first choice (Pastner or Buzz), but he would do an excellent job if hired.

If true, we'd have to get him some dress shirts that dont flare at the collar! GOB would be pisssed!

If that's the route we're going I'd rather have Terry Evans.

Yeah, I am really starting to like Evans. Did a little research and he would be a great coach, but definitely home run hire. My top three are Buzz, Pastner, and Evans.

Is he the coach from Missouri St.??????

Yes. MSU extended his contract through 2015 last spring. His base salary is $140K with a total compensation package of $300,000. This is exactly the kind of coach many have predicted that Joe C. would seek out.

I'm not sure how I feel about the possibility of hiring Martin? He was the MVC Coach of the Year last season, which says something about his ability as a coach. The Bears beat some decent teams along the way to a 25-8 season; Wichita State, ORU, Southern Ill., Creighton and Northern Iowa among them. They lost to Okie State by 14 and Tennessee by 4 on the road, neither of which are losses to be embarrased about. OU barely squeaked by Central Arkansas by 3 points at home; MSU beat them by 40.

Just because he is getting an interview doesnt mean he is Joe C's #1 choice.

I looked up Missouri State's roster and stats. Martin started 4 Sr's and 1 Jr this season. The Jr was the MVC Player-of-Year. He is still losing about 70% of his total pts, rbs, asts, etc., though. I would imagine he is seeking to get out while the getting is good. No coach wants to be the Chris Lowery of CBB anymore. Lowery could have taken almost any opening in the country out of Southern Illinois after 3 consecutive NCAA appearances and a Sweet 16 run in 2007. Now he is on the hotseat after 3 straight below .500 MVC seasons. Coaches have to strike while the iron is hot.

The Gene Keady coaching tree seems a lot better than Coach K's

Not much of a resume for Martin. I'd definitely take Evans at this point.

I like him but he's Jeff Capel version 2.0; OU needs a guy with experience at a non mid major school

If OU gets a mid major guy they need to go after one who has been at their school for 7 or more years with success.

Agree Sam. That's why if we're going to go mid-major our search should start and end with Gregg Marshall.

And my choice would be Johnny Jones at UNT. You see what he has done there and his coaching philosophy would do well in the Big 12, I think.

I think cuonzo is a good coach and if we did hire him would do good here, but we need better and more proven right now.

Good point, Jones has a long track record of success and his Texas ties are a definite plus.

I'd much prefer Marshall or Jones. Let Martin coach another 3 or 4 more years before giving him a shot.
