The former Edmond Memorial guard who many on the board had debated on whether to recruit or not is receiving playing time at Charlotte under Mark Price as a true freshman. Charlotte has only played 3 games and he struggled mightily in 2. In a game against versus Furman the other day he went off for 21. I still don't know if he is an OU level player, but he should be a contributor for Charlotte as an underclassman and as a junior and senior he could be an all conference level player who should have some overseas offers when his college career is done. I wonder if the guy was 6'6 instead of 6'3 would he be in an OU uniform right now.

I doubt if size had much to do with it. Charlotte has him listed at 6' 4," the same as Cousins, Hield and James on OU's roster. There's a reason why Charlotte was his best offer. Here's a link to his offers:

Curran was a good high school player, just not good enough to get an OU offer. Does that mean he won't have a nice career at Charlotte and make some of us wish he was in a Sooner uniform down the road a ways? Of course not. If that happens, it wouldn't be the first time OU made a mistake by passing on an instate recruit. Ryan Spangler is a prime example of that. Capel didn't offer him a scholarship and he signed with the Zags. I was one of a number of posters on this board who thought he missed out on one heck of a player. History proved us right.

I don't expect to see a repeat of that with Curran. So, for that reason if no other, I'm going to wish him well and move on. You might want to think about doing the same.

If he were 6-6? Yes, I think Kruger offers. Lon has shown that he likes long, athletic wings.

He went 14 for 14 from the line...... he'll be at d2 shortly.

Odomes & James would start for Charlotte easily.

1 point today.

Look I'm not saying he is a Big 12 caliber player or anything but to say he is a D2 talent is selling him a little short. I believe he will have a solid career at Charlotte. Obviously he will be inconsistent as most freshman are, but I believe the talent is there. Furman is D1 ( albeit low-major ) and he dropped 21 on them, and 14 of 14 from the line is a testament to his ability to draw fouls and hit free throws which even some professional players struggle to do. Anyone who says he is a high major talent is probably off, and anyone who says he is a D2 talent and nothing more probably is too but only time will tell.

Scott will be a good college player. I hope he does great. OU wasn't interested, LK is great at recruiting wings.

Yep agree.
Very lucky to get Spangler back

Never heard if he was much of a player at Gonzaga

Think Xavier Henry or Daniel Orton are better examples

I am a UNCC (now known as Charlotte) graduate from the 80s. I used to have season bb tickets but have not been keeping up with the program the last few years. I went to the game last night, my first since opening night when we got thumped by Elon. WOW, Curran Scott was fantastic. I had never even heard of him but was impressed enough to start googling when I got home.

Not saying he will be an NBA player, but his game made me think of Jeff hornacek. He doesn't look like he can get his shot off inside, but he is crafty and can. I look forward to following him the next four years.

As a former coach of Scott's this kid is a fierce competitor. As an OU fan I wished OU had been interested, but I understood why. They didn't need a player at his position. I hope he kicks @ss at Charlotte.
