I've seen lots of conservatives asking that the NBA/NFL etc. be shut down. See above. It's exactly the same. Cancel culture.

I don't believe you have seen that. I've seen nobody say that. Or I guess one guy with the tweet that was provided earlier. The "goal" is simply to not spend money there. Sure, if enough people do that, the NFL/NBA would either change their stance or be forced to change something financially, but an outright shut down of the NBA/NFL isn't the goal of 99% of us. I don't want my tv dollars going to a BLM group that I don't support. Simple as that.

I have seen that, many times. It's cancel culture. The fact that you agree with it is why you think it's different.

The best example I can come up with is AOC and Goya. She literally wants nothing to exist that doesn't align with her way of thinking. She is on a crusade against Goya because they had the audacity to say they support the POTUS. It makes it even worse that she is a congresswoman.

I cannot imagine the outrage that would come from the media if the roles were reversed.

They asked that people not buy Goya products, which is exactly the same as not buying NFL tickets or not watching NFL games.

I'm so old I remember conservatives smashing Keurigs and boycotting the company.

Correct...they asked people not to buy a product (ironically a hispanic product) simply because the CEO supports Trump. Can you imagine a republican senator senator calling for a boycott of Starbucks simply because the CEO supports Obama?

Literally, the whole boycott got started because the CEO had the audacity to go to the white house and say we are blessed to have a leader like Trump.

That's it. They want to eliminate anyone that thinks differently than them

People that boycott sports due to kneeling at the anthem boycott because they think it is hypocritical and unpatriotic to do so. And they don't try to take down the NFL/NBA...they stop watching. They don't want to eliminate the players or their right to protest. They don't want to eliminate the player's way of thinking. Yes, there are some exceptions to this and yes some conservatives fall for the same cancel culture theoratrics that the left does.

I'll add another comment...a lot of the conservatives uptick in boycotting/cancelling is a direct retalitation of the left doing it. That doesn't make it right but it wouldn't have been happening if the left didn't start it.

Hell, people are fired/jailed in Canada for using a person's biological sex' pronoun.

Haha, now you're moving the goalposts. You're saying that the reason for the boycotts is what matters. Before you were saying that conservatives didn't participate. Make up your mind.

This is a good example of the No True Scotsman logical fallacy.

I love a good logical fallacy... this appears to fit.

Definitions of the fallacy:

"This fallacy occurs when someone changes the definition of a term to make a claim true by default or to exclude elements vulnerable to criticism"

"rather than conceding the point or meaningfully revising the claim, the claim is altered by going from universal to specific, and failing to give any objective criteria for the specificity."

What? I never said conservatives didn't boycott things. not once.

I've given plenty of objective criteria to specify the difference between boycotting and cancelling.

They are two distinct terms. I'm not changing any definition. The definitions of the two are not well defined so I am attempting the best I can to show you how I believe they are different.

So when liberals boycott a product it's "cancel culture" but when conservatives boycott a product it's not "cancel culture." Got it.

No true Scotsman for the win! Hahaha

Looked at the polls, check this out:

Trump ahead of Biden by 24 points on average in Oklahoma.

Texas: Trump up by less than 1 point
Kansas: Trump up by 9 points
Arkansas: Trump up by 2 points
Missouri: Trump up by 6.5 points
Alabama: Trump up by 18 points
Louisiana: Trump up by 13 points

Only West Virginia is more "pro Trump" than Oklahoma. He is up 35 points in West Virginia.

All these other very red states aren't even as close to being so pro Trump as Oklahoma.

I never said that either.

But I mean a liberal putting words in ones mouth is kind of their MO...so par for the course.

I literally have been trying to show the difference between boycotts and cancel culture

I read an interesting article recently that said that when Texas turns blue, and it will, demographics is like a rising tide that can't be turned back, then the GOP will suddenly be for getting rid of the electoral college because it will be virtually impossible for them to win the presidency for the foreseeable future.

Texas won’t turn blue. I know you’re wishing but, nope. You should worry about Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Nevada, etc.

Trump will win going away and Steve will throw a fit and blame him for all of Steve’s problems, which are many.

Also, it’s more likely the dem party splinters after yet another humiliating defeat.
