D'Angelo Allen

I'd bet on this being Mizzou or OU from what I've read. Not that I had any clue who he was until about two days ago. I'd be curious to know what the connection is for us. Anderson obviously wasn't recruiting him for a DII school. Our only assistant confirmed so far is a Haith holdover, and we weren't involved before this week that I know of.

Stay away. We saw him first!

Still room for Allen with the juco PG you guys just signed?

What's your scholarship situation look like?

Yep. We were going to try and sign Allen before Hornbeak transferred. Walker is just taking Beak's scholarship.

As of right now, counting Walker, we technically have 2 scholarships open for next year, but we only have 1 player graduating next year, so we will leave one open.

Basically, if Allen commits to us, we take him and have two scholarships for next year. If he chooses to go elsewhere, we shut it down and have three scholarships for next year.

Just looked at OU's roster. Aren't all these guys on scholarship?

Bennett
Booker
Cole
Cousins
Hield
Spangler
Woodard

Plus Buford, Lattin, McNeace, Alade, McLean and now Walker. That's 13 players.

Where are the two more openings?

McLean isn't coming and Alade is a preferred walk-on.

Alade is a walk-on, and we aren't going to sign McLean now due to the NCAA issues.

Got it. Explains why I've seen so little mention of Alade here.

We may know today. Mizzou this late in the game scares me...

4 of 7 are to OU. The arkansas one was really old. Mizzou added one last night. OU had the 1st 4.

I hadn't heard his name in connection with Mizzou until the day before he visited, which is after 2/3 of those OU predictions (only five, not seven; two are repeated).

I look forward to hearing more about how this played out (if he picks MU; if it's OU, I doubt he'll have anything to say about it).

Want this one in a bad way.

you know your basketball, would you or someone else essentially sell me on Allen? I agree he seems good and I bet he would develop nicely under Kruger and co, but I feel he blends in with Buford too much in this class, and it sure would be nice to have 3 scholarships instead of 2 next year. Is he a 3? A stretch 4? Does he have an outside shot? Can he handle? I seem him as Buford but little less athletic (not un-athletic but Buford is a beast) and less refined

I think we have another great year, announce new plans for LNC, and could really sway some talent to sign up in Norman. I am hoping someone can tell me why Allen is better now than the upside later (without giving me the bird in hand is worth more than 2 in the bush line)...

He's a 3. Can shoot the outside shot, but a good slasher. He's a winner and that is a great thing. Super Athletic. Buford is more the 4 typer (cam Clark).

I like the idea of 3 ships next year as well, but he's a #85 recruit by ESPN. You dont turn away top 150 guys.

Next year I have HOPE we can land a trier and then a milton or Grandstaff. But taking a top 100 player is better than missing on a top 50 player.

Thanks, but I was hoping with the big guys we are recruiting we could get back to where Buford is eventually a 3. I think Cam played that role well, but it hurt us with our lack of size up front. Now if Lattin and McNease become great defensive stoppers in the middle, I guess you can go small at the 4 and not be as hurt, but would like to get guys like Buford and Allen at the 3 to add size and keep big boys down low.

I definitely agree on the winner part, he won like 3 state ships and got 2nd the other year I believe? That's underrated in a recruit, and think he will fit nice in our tempo.

was he deciding today?
