Danni Williams to A&M

Do you have a daughter, Syb? If you did you'd know the answer to your last question.

So, when someone who has a gripe with Sherri or OU, for whatever reason---and you don't know the facts---makes a claim, we should take that as truth. When two compromised witnesses testify at a trial, are they more credible than one? How many witnesses with a personal stake in the case are permitted, or believed?

Do you have any indication from those who have no gripe with Sherri that there are character flaws in Sherri? Do her players call her out, current or former?

Sherri won't ever release her side of the story. She hasn't revealed why certain players left, other than to say that they had been dismissed, usually suspended, for breaking team rules. It's interesting that even they don't seem to have any criticism. Yet, those who didn't get what they wanted from Sherri or OU can say something, and it is taken as valid?

I don't remember a mother getting involved this way. Wonder why fathers do?

What? We always get Sherri's side of the story. You make it up and present it as factual evidence.

How do you know it was a gripe? Maybe the dad just said it matter-of-factly, like it was just what happened.

What I believe is this is getting said far too much for it not to be true to some degree.

Either that, or it is a great national conspiracy between recruits, parents and other programs - over several years - to purposefully diss Sherri and OU.

How likely is that?

What I don't believe is that Sherri and the program are perfect -- as you believe.

No one was griping. The family wasn't/isn't upset and has no hard feelings against anyone. Mr. Williams was surprised that OU stopped all contact with them because they really liked OU and had a very good visit and they thought the coaches were equally interested in recruiting Danni. But, when that didn't happen, they knew they had plenty of other options so it wasn't like OU ruined her life or anything. We will never know why Sherri suddenly pulled the plug on Danni. Time will tell if Sherri made a good decision or not.

Just my opinion, I think she is going to be as good or better than Peyton. We'll see.

I have a daughter, and, yes, I am prejudiced for my daughter. What's more, I have seen a lot of father's who just couldn't accept that their kid wasn't getting what he deserved, sons and daughters. Unless I know something is wrong with the coach, I tend to ignore complaints by fathers.

Hence Danni's father should not necessarily be ignored as he was not complaining about Sherri. Just stating a first hand fact that she stopped calling. Which is something you rarely do, have first hand knowledge when you state your so called facts.

The logical conclusion to Danni's recruitment if you believe her father is Oklahoma quit contacting Danni while they still had interest in OU. While that surprised them it did not upset them. Nothing more can be drawn from Norm's conversation with Danni's father.

Anything else is supposition on the part of those individuals. You know what I mean as it is your modus operandi when discussing Sherri.

I would love D Williams at OU. Yet, OU has limited ships. I am sure Coale wants to sign a C or PF. B Alexander fits more of what OU likes. 6'0" girl that can play multiple positions.

If we get Brooke, I will be very happy!

A spock sighting! Unfortunately for your hypothesis, I made it clear that nobody knew the facts. There were assumptions being made, just as there always have been, with some finding an opportunity to criticize Sherri. I also made it quite clear that Sherri won't tell us her side. Now, show some facts, or quit making criticisms.

honestly I don't see this as a big deal, she's a guard and she's heading to the SEC now, I think Sherri should be only offer a kid she really wants or an elite post player right now because we have to see what happens with Cox and Mulkey for 2016.

Pretty much agree. With Ortiz, Williams, Penzo, Little, Manning, Dungee, and Llanusa, I'm not all that concerned about guards.

If she turns out to be really good, then it will make no sense that Sherri turned her back on Danni to go after Williams and Penzo. If Danni is not all that, then it won't matter. But, when you look at who recruited Danni one would think maybe the girl can play.

If Sherri had the opportunity to offer Danni, Gileysa, and LaNeisha, why did she offer the latter two and not the former? Isn't it her job to evaluate talent? Hasn't she had a pretty good program for the past 17 years. Why would she not offer Danni? Has to be a reason, other than to stimulate message board discussion.

Hey Spock, hope you are doing well!

I always thought Sherri offered Penzo to help land Louis.

Sequence. Didn't Pierre-Louis come first? Did they actually know each other? Florida is a big place. I thought Penzo might be more of a result of the relationship to Dungee, Cox, and DRob's HS coach who was their coach in the U-16.

They played on the same AAU team Essence. The same Team that produced Whitney Hand, Sherri stated in one of her interviews she
Was at a game recruiting Pierre Louis but Ended up Loving something
About Penzo's game so she offered her.

It seems that every time we sign a guard there are countless posts about how we don't need more guards - we need centers and forwards. Now, we didn't offer a guard and people are complaining about that. Sometimes,. you can't win for losing.

My comments have nothing to do with whether Danni is a good player or whether we needed a guard on the squad versus a big.

My comments and opinions were strictly regarding the process and how I think it is unfair and rude for even a sports coaching staff to talk to a kid and get their hopes up and then drop them like they are diseased or something -- allegedly.

I've been through that process a bit and it's not a decent thing to do.

The only "fact" we know in this case is what Danni's dad said. I have no reason to doubt him. Norm said he was just stating what the process had been.

However, as I said, this is becoming too much of a continuing occurrence not to have some validity. We can get into that on a separate topic about recruiting in general, but we've all hashed this subject over several times.

FTR, I don't think we need another guard. I'm sure Danni is a wonderful player and girl. aTm is a program every bit as good as ours. She can go there a year and then transfer like Peyton did for all I care if our new guards don't work out.

If you look at the time line, the posts on this board make perfect sense. We had a chance to recruit Danni, a very good player who was recruited by some top 5 programs. Instead, we dropped her to go after Penzo and Williams, who were not highly ranked or recruited. Why that happened is puzzling. Danni liked OU, Norman was fairly close to their home which, according to her Dad was important, and she liked the coaching staff, etc. Even if we don't need a guard at a particular time, and if we have a chance to sign a really good guard (one who most likely will be a starter) you have to go after them. There is a lot to be said about the old saying, "you sign the best player available". Can you image Geno not going after Maya Moore because he already had someone on the roster who could play small forward? That would make about as much sense as Sherri not going after Courtney Paris because she already had a center who could play.

As I said, if Danni turns out to be a mediocre player, it won't matter that she wasn't recruited.
