Danny Manning to Wake Forest?

If so then James Woodard to OU! Maybe Dre Wright too.

Is that just speculation or based off some info you have received?

James Woodard would be a perfect fit in OU' offense. He'd have to sit the year out after transferring. But that would mean he could play his junior and senior seasons with his younger brother.

As for Manning, it's highly likely he'll be on the coaching search list of a number of schools in the next month or two. The only thing missing in his resume' is experience.

I'll be surprised if he's in Tulsa next year.

Especially on Wright. Just not what we need out of a big man right now.

I agree on Wright, but disagree with Boulder on Woodard. Woodard was the leading scorer and a 39% shooter from three on a good Tulsa team last season. He might not start at OU. But he would be a nice piece to our roster with a redshirt season to work on his game.

That said, I doubt if Woodard to OU will happen anyway. We have bigger fish to fry in the players we're in on in 2015, with limited scholarships available in that class.

If anyone was worried, TU is apparently not going to let him go without a fight.

i like him as a player .. but he would come and be at best a 1 year starter ..

would rather give that time to the freshman that are going to come in fall 2015

TU can't outbid WF. And there will probably be more openings as well. Say goodbye to DM!!!

Fall 2015 is not the time to be developing freshmen. It's the time to try to win a conference championship and make a deep NCAA tournament run.

Agreed. That's why I added a footnote in my follow up post.

I think Manning stays at TU for another two years, at least. I think it would take an amazing offer to pull him from coaching his young soph class in their years as upperclassmen. WF may or may not be that job. Gone are the days of coaches would good jobs at small schools jumping to bad jobs at big schools. Look at Brad Stevens and Shaka Smart.

he wouldn't be the starter in 2015 ... and we will have 5 guards that year with tons of experience .. the freshman guards that year will be back ups .. unless they are great ..

Would love to see James come to OU. Would give tremendous guard depth and insurance in case one of the other guard leaves.

No, he'd be an excellent 6th man, which is something a great team needs. He may not want that role, but regardless, we'd be much better off with a 4th year guard than a freshman. Plus, he'd almost assuredly start in '16-17 alongside his brother.

i doubt he would be a better 6th man in 2015 than Hornbeak or Booker

I know there's a OU-KU history to hate Danny by, but I'd feel sad if he left just as he was getting this program back on the right track. TU used to be a lot more passionate about basketball. I got to see a taste of that at the CBI about 5 years ago. Alas, they're gonna be another wannabe football school where football either sucks (last year) or is a big fish in a mid-major pond (year before last).
