Very odd. It is almost as if he was found "sort of guilty". If he truly did what he was accused of, then undoubtedly he should be in prison. But, even the jury recommended the minimum sentence before he was released today.

I wholeheartedly agree. Absolutely messed up deal all the way around. How you let a rapist, and whether you believe he did it or not a jury found him guilty, go "free" after only a few months of time served is beyond me.

Actually, the charges he was convicted of only called for a 1 year sentence on each count. He's been in jail for 3-4 months already.

So instead of granting a completely new trial he suspended the rest of the sentence. Seems like a smart call to me.

Certainly better than the idiot judge in Texas who sentenced a 23 year old mom of 5 to 99 years for freaking out and beating up one of her kids. Yeah I know it's bad she beat her baby up but let's get real. 99 years? That's a clown sentence. Take her kids away. Give her 10 years. Whatever. 99 years? Moron texans.

Anyway, if there is truly new evidence that warranted another trial he should get his day in court. Having that sex offender label hanging around your neck is like a noose.

Very true. I can only imagine the abuse Williams and his teammates would receive at the hands of away fans, not to mention the bad publicity. I'll be shocked if OSU keeps this kid on the roster.

It's a shame, really. But if he's guilty of the offense, he has no one to blame but himself.

I think its pretty ridiculous, personally. Suspending the sentence suggests that there is some lack of certainty regarding his innocence, yet he still has to register as a sex offender and he'll carry the stigma of being a felon his whole life. I understand not wanting to set a bad precedent by allowing a re-trial, but this kid is screwed, for life. Maybe he did it, who knows? But while "groping two women and reaching inside their pants without their consent" is certainly serious, I don't think he should have to "check the box" the rest of his life over it.

Not to say 99 years is the correct sentence, but you do realize it wasn't simply beating her child. She super glued her kids hands to the wall and the proceeded to beat her. Her other children were all there to witness it too. Thats more despicable than beating your kid. Still, 99 years is extreme. Just pointing out it isn't your typical case.

As for williams, its hard to feel too bad seeing as how there isn't much evidence in his favor. I feel like he should have taken the stand or his lawyers should have brought one of the accusers past of mental health and false accusations to light during the trial.

No way should he be allowed to play. I doubt he would even want to face the ridicule.

The judge asked him if he had anything to say. He (calmly this time) said "I didn't do it"

From what I have seen of the case, this is my understanding:

• They have no proof
• There were shadows of doubt all over the place
• They recommend the bare minimum sentence
• He serves 3 months and they let him go

Either he did it and he should be punished accordingly for it, or he didnt do it and he should be playing basketball and moving on with his education and life.

Sounds like he didnt do it, or at the very least, they have no way to prove he did.

THat is really weird too. Normally the system doesn't like a person not taking responsibility for what they did or were convicted of doing.
