Dave Bliss cheats again

That is definitely facepalm worthy. You would think with his history, getting a chance to regain some of his image would encourage him to do things the right way for a change. To be honest though, I don't think even a clean effort from Bliss would change my mind about him at this point. Listening to that tape from the Baylor fiasco tarnished him beyond salvage IMO.

i feel no loyalty to the guy. this is a guy who took the SMU job over staying at OU. which turned out pretty good for us (Billy).

he had a couple good teams at SMU.....middling at UNM, and the Baylor thing.

I don't mean to trample on the guy but a couple of incidents while he was head coach at Baylor really turned me off and I lost interest in the program I loved while he was at the helm. That interest has been re-kindled by the class way Drew and his staff carry themselves (had to throw that in there :))

The first one was while sitting in a home, Bliss was talking about recruiting and he made the comment about needing to recruit the inner city "coloreds" better. The guy who was with me (also white) was disgusted as I was. It was such a shocking statement coming out of the mouth of a basketball coach who is around black people EVERY DAY of his life. If some 88-year old redneck said that who had never been around a black person before, it would be wrong but less shocking. It was just a glimpse into the arrogance of his soul- and it was a dark glimpse.

The other was right after the Dennehy/Dotson murder... when violations came to light that he was paying the tuition for Corey Herring and basically skirting the rules. Was his first reaction remorse? Not at all. He went on a rant about the 5/8 rule (which was repealed in 2004) and how ridiculous the rule was. Perhaps it was, but rather than feeling remorse that violations were coming to light in the wake of the Dennehy murder, Bliss was prideful and defiant.

I'm a believer in dispensing grace in all situations and also in 2nd chances but this has to be the nail in Bliss' coaching career at least at the amateur level. He should find a job on the bench somewhere in the pro game because he is a good tactician.

I'm sure he has redeeming qualities as all people do, but there are deep issues there.
