Man that was awesome stuff. This dude is going to get the most out of his guys here. Only question is how high of a ceiling we can have based on the talent we pull playing by the rules.
loved it. i'm the first debbie downer to usually be like, relax, it's still freaking april. but i am so amped for this era. i am ready to go re-paint the parking space lines outside the lnc if that's what coach asked of me.
the roster cleansing has been a blessing in disguise for us. i truly believe it. next year is going to be rough for sure. maybe a one or two win conference season. but moser having basically an empty roster to recruit his guys helps get us going a little quicker. and the fact we are even in the running ffor the groves kid gives me a lot of optimism about his recruiting. i think mason will be really good, too.
Looks like 5 total players were there, including Hill. Rick was with his Girlfriend yesterday, so not shocking he wasn’t there.
I think we'll have a better year than that. Our recruiting class brings in three solid guards. Noland is ready to play day 1.
The two returning guards both can play 30+ minutes and bring toughness, defense. Gibson can shoot it, and Harkless gets tough buckets. Hill is going to be WAY better this year than anyone on this board expects him to be. I expect him to be a 10 and 5 guy.
We need a starting center/PF, two solid forwards for depth, and one more guard. I think we can be middle of the conference again.
ISU, KSU, Tech, and OSU are all going to struggle next year.
I hope you're right. I wish I shared your optimism. I'm very glad we have Gibson but he was awfully inconsistent this past season, as was Harkless on the scoring tip. And it's an iffy proposition to ever count on freshmen being major contributors -- if Cortes and Noland turn out to be that, it'll be a very pleasant surprise.
Typically it takes a new coach 3-4 years to get “his guys” and “his system” fully in place. With the transfer portal as it is this year, it absolutely could end up a blessing in disguise.
I agree. I don’t believe it will take anywhere near that long to get “his guys” to buy in.
We don’t know much about Issanza except he stayed when some of his teammates bailed on the new coach. I already like Rick for his dedication and loyalty. If I was asked to handpick the players from this team who would be a good fit for Moser’s coaching style and system, Hill, Gibson and Harkless would most certainly be in that group. I also think our three freshmen recruits may be perfect for his system.
My point is, Moser already has the nucleus of HIS team in place. All he has to do (and, yes I know it’s a tall order) is to recruit the right players to fill specific needs.
Rick was there.
Harkless
Gibson
Hill
O'Garro
Issanza
Seacat
Casey
We always says that transfers/juco guys make a big leap into their senior season. I think the same can be said for both of these guys.
Not sure about Cortes and Mason, but Noland has been playing top competition in both AAU and school ball for the past 7 years. He's done it against the best players in Texas and is built for the Big 12. I think he can be a solid contributor right away.
