A hot shooting Mean Green team shot 28% from the field and 23% from three point range in tonight’s game. Before tonight, UNT was averaging 42% from three, as a team.

Great job on defending the three! Much better than our first six games.

Its refreshing to see. You cant always just outscore everyone. It takes a team effort on both ends.

Definitely.

The offense was truly awful in the 1st half especially but defense kept the team in the lead and helped carry them home in the 2nd half. They are so much better. They held UNT to a ridiculously low 0.72 points per possession last night, the 6th time out of 7 they've held an opponent to less than 1. I think they only did it 5 times all of last season.

It seems that Lon was serious when he told them last spring to hit the highway if they weren't going to defend.
We really have been getting after teams all year on the defensive end.

I like 5 Vbad posts in one day!

Love it!

Vbdad, you told me what Lon said to the players at that meeting last year. I counted on the commitment everyone made to stake my claim that our defense would be much improved. I’m pleased to say we were right!

I’m catching feelings for this team

Just love the 2 grad trsfs

I'll be devil's advocate...

they missed a lot of inside shots..easy ones.

We missed a ton of FT's...

We missed easily as many open inside shots, and probably more.

agree...on top of our poor FT shooting. Spread would prob be about the same.

I liked the fact they actually took lead in 2nd half and the def intensity picked up.

It'll be an interesting year.

Calixte plays a true point guard. Obviously he isn't TY but he is doing a nice job. Reynolds is an energizer bunny who defends all the time. He also is a willing attacker of the basket. Clearly not the most talented kid but he was a huge get for the team.

I honestly see Reynolds taking minutes from Odomes. Very similar games except Reynolds can hit free throws in the clutch. I bet his playing time increases as the season goes on.

Yeah Odomes really does a good job on defense and has the length to really cause problems but he's so limited offensively he couldn't be on the court the other night when we needed help on the offensive end.

It's so weird to recall that Odomes was the high scorer in that all-star game right before he arrived in Norman.

Odomes scored 37 points in the Faith Seven game, where he was 2 of 4 from three point range and 9 of 10 from the free throw line. Go figure! :facepalm

And he's scored about 37 total points as a Sooner, right?

(I kid, I kid...)

I like him. He seems like a great kid, and he definitely busts his butt when he's on the court. But I do wish we could get more offensive production out of him.
