Does this hire excite the players?

I think once they talk to him, they'll be good. He's been around the block, and has come into new schools several times. He'll know what to say.

No. It means they will actually have to play defense and rebound.

damn well should. This guy has a ton of experience at big time programs and also was an NBA coach.

I would bet Cam Clark sticks around. Lon's offense is perfect for a guy of his skills.

Lon coached Mitch Richmond at KSU and Mitch was big time in the NBA.

he's got NBA experience and a lot of success at the NCAA level. but, probably won't be listening to Jay-Z with them. not a shot at Jeff, just sayin'....Lon played for Jack Hartman....he's getting up there.

if he stabilizes the program and wins some games, it's a good if not electrifying hire.

I think the fact he's coached in the NBA will give him some instant credibility. I think college players really like that.

I don't care if it excited them, as long as it makes them better basketball players.

Yep.

I just ask a couple of things of Lon. Get the team to play hard. Given them an identity on offense/defense. Win enough games to get us to the Dance on a regular basis. If he does that for the next 5-7 years, I'll be happy.

Lon is going to do that with our team, so in the end I am happy.

If a couple players aren't excited about the hire would that also be such a bad thing ? One of the 1st things Lon is going to have to do is take a serious look at our roster and make changes where they need to be made.
