At least according to the Oklahoman. Capel just not interested?

Some of the state’s top basketball players are gaining more and more recruiting attention as the season heads for the home stretch. And two of them are at Putnam City.

Dominique Raney has around a dozen offers, including Oklahoma State, but has said he is trying to stay focused on the season, while letting his father and coach handle recruiting calls.

Teammate Ron’Quis Lewis is gaining attention. Already with an offer from Western Kentucky, the lanky 6-foot-6 swingman is getting interest from Tulsa, TCU and Tulane.

Capel is trying to find players who will help next season...not a player to sit the bench. Ford will sign Raney and send him packing in a year or 2. Thats what he does.

So you don't think Raney is as good as any of the OU gaurds and wouldn't play for either team? I haven't watched him play, so I don't know how good he is, but I have heard some good things about him.

He's a chucker with a shaky deepball and a classic combo guard. He is quick with the ball in his hands though.

I know one thing, the fact OSU has offered him means nothing to me.

Ford seems to like having a couple of combo gaurds on the floor at the same time, so he might work. Right or wrong he also doesn't sit on scholarships. If he has one to give you can bet he will give it. Sometime he will offer even when he doesn't have on to give.:D

Happens every year...last year it was Amric Fields...this year it's Richardson, Raney and/or Spangler.

Two Tyler Neals would be better than one Neal and one Nick Thompson, though...

He's not going to run point for us. He's not going to play over Pledger, Clark, and Newell at the 2, or Clark, Neal, and Osby at the 3...at least not next year. Its not like Raney can't be good down the line but Capel is going to have to bring in guys who can contribute right away. He can't afford to take a chance on Raney.

Right. Because Ford has sent away so many of the guys he's signed.

Let's look at the numbers.

Ford has signed two full recruiting class at OSU, 2009 and 2010, for a total of 11 players.

Exactly one of those 11 players (Torin Walker) has left the program.

Clearly all Ford does is sign guys and then "send them packing."

I guess because it wasn't a "full" class he isn't responsible for Akol or Kirkland...

I don't think that OSU offer is on the board.

I didn't either. I was wondering if they started recruiting him again? I am really hoping for a post player that can play some next year.

Amric Fields doesn't even start for a team that went 1-15 in the Mountain West.
Quit acting like he was some big recruiting miss...

That wasn't my point. I know he's not the next Stacey King, but he's infinitely a better player than a Hardrick or Thompson and is as good as Neal. It is a big recruiting miss when you continue to bring in players that shouldn't be here instead of guys that can at least contribute.

Doesn't mean anything according to those pimping Osby as the next Blake Griffin.

He averaged 4 points and 2 rebounds for MSU last year.

maybe if he had hitched a few rides with sam to some state high school games instead of flying to ames and portland to miss on guys we were never getting, we might be in a better position today. right now, this is my biggest problem. we wouldn't even have neal if there wasn't a need to fill up a roster immediately. i've seen a couple big guys like hartsock at byu that lead me to believe capel thinks time could be better spent than recruiting this state. completely overlooking in-state kids is a terrible way to build a program if you are going to swing and miss like he has.
