Drew vs. Ford (2 basketball minds)

Maybe we should finish ahead of these guys in the standings again before talking too much. Just saying.

Even if we don't finish ahead of them, it doesn't change the fact that those two are easily on the short list for worst x's and o's coach in the country.

Say what you want about Ford (who will finish the season ahead of OU....again) but ripping Drew is kind of ironic considering your coach.

Full seasons of coaching CBB:

Kruger 29
Drew 10

Career Elite 8 appearances:

Drew 2
Kruger 2

Kruger's most recent Elite being in 1994, a mere 17-18 or so years before Drew's latest. Good stuff.

Something wrong when an aggie has to try to pump up Drew to make his coach look better.

On one hand, it is alittle irritating when anyone post something along this line trying to diminish Kruger. And then, on the other, I wonder why people don't put alittle more thought into their arguement.

Kruger is a turn around specialist. Apparently he is one of those guys that draws his satisfaction from fixing broken programs. It is not an easy thing to do. Not everyone can do it. It really is a specialized skill set.

What that means is that he has probably spent more than half his career coaching teams that had no chance what so ever of making a sweet 16 or elite 8 or anything close to that. And then as soon as he gets a program competitive, he moves on.

Yea, I know all about Drew and the Baylor mess. But, Drew has been there 10 years and they got good within the last 3 years. Kruger doesn't stay that long. Kruger doesn't cheat. Drew?

Counting final 4's and elite 8's is just not applicable when trying to measure Kruger's impact on teams and programs.

No. Finishing ahead of them doesnt make them better coaches.

And I hate when people say, "just saying". We all can read, I know what you are "just saying" I read it, just .5secs before you wrote "just saying"!

I know I wouldnt want Ford as the coach at OU. Thats a no brainer. He is horrible and hes a total jerk.

Im not sure about Drew. He may be the worst in game coach in the big 12, but he may be the best recruiter.

I do agree, these were two horrible coaches going at it. One guy that just screams and yells (and so does his dad), both little man complex idiots. And one guy in Drew that just lets the players run the show and doesnt seem to do any real coaching.

Both of them are BAD coaches, Kruger knows more about coaching in his left leg than both of them put together. Both of them can recruit, and we will see going down the pike if they did it legally.

Bottom line, Kruger is one of the top 2 coaches in the league, maybe #1 or tied for #1

Every time I watch Baylor I'm amazed that they have so many terrific athletes but their coach doesn't give them any weapons to work with as far as offensive or defensive scheme is concerned.

Drew runs over 20 different offensive sets per game. The only school in the Big12 that runs more is Iowa State. That is the reason Baylor has been top 20 in KenPom offensive efficiency for 4 of the last 5 years. The Bears are difficult to gameplan for because they run a lot of different sets. Now the execution isn't always a work of beauty but not that many teams are consistently

As for defense... better this year but not great.

Coaching and recruiting go hand in hand. You really can't separate the two. If I had to pick it would be getting the best talent you can get. Some years you can have a great team without top tier talent- but it is usually a senior/junior dominated team and one that will have a major rebuilding job the next year.

Kruger is one of the best and he's going to be hard to beat going forward. Really, the Big12 has a lot of really good coaches. I don't know about Chris Walker, but you can't take it for granted that you are going to roll in and beat any team due to superior coaching. All the teams are well prepared and well coached in my view. If you watch some other leagues long enough (SEC and even ACC), you will recognize the quality of coaching in the Big12.
