GAME 5 - OKLAHOMA (2-2) vs Oral Roberts (2-3) 7:00pm CST on SECNETWORK+

i have no problem with moser's approach. when you have so many new players/starters....i think it's imperative to get your starter group as many minutes playing together as possible. freshmen can learn in practice.
The very potential problem is when Mo gets in foul trouble and guys have to defend someone much bigger than them. I hope he is preparing for this. We saw it play out against Gonzaga and Nebraska. He either needs to get guys moving at high velocity to double and still cover or he needs to develop a good zone D. Otherwise I think the results are going to likely be the same as we’ve seen.

Even if Rogers is able to help we need to be doing this anyway. The question is whether Rogers could limit the time we have to do those things. I have a difficult time understanding why he won’t try to develop him more in games like this. Yes, you have to learn in practice but there is nothing better than game experience. To me, the only explanation is that he has already decided he is not going to be ready this year.

Unlike some of you, I’m capable of learning fr history. I also am capable of listening to what Manzer said. He never said he isn’t playing hard. He said he is like most freshmen and just has to learn what the difference between high school and college.
You're right, I should learn from history. I have learned to never interact with your posts because all you do is b***h and moan about anything OU related.

Reid and Davis are averaging 2.3 and 2.0 3 point attempts per game. There may be some games where it's more or some where it's less, but this is a healthy 3 point volume for them and the offense.
2.8 and 2.4 are the current numbers. Agree to disagree even under the numbers you list. We have three bad shooters attempting a combined 8 per game and making less than 1. Obviously they won’t be THAT bad all season, but unless they improve a lot, we will still be well under one point per possession when they tee up threes. It’s inefficient, especially when this team has plenty of other ways to score. Guys need to understand their own games, and coaches need to help with that if they can’t figure it out on their own.

And yet here you are again. Just can’t quit me. I’ll leave it to you and a few others to talk about all the positives. I’m sure it’ll be a long list since these are the salad days of Sooner basketball.

I talk about both positives & negatives because it's what I see. I don't hijack threads that have nothing to do with OU and use it as a chance to bash OU's coaches & players relentlessly. I thought about just ignoring you, but nah I just going to start calling out all your dumb sh**.

I would definitely agree with that, but it is frustrating for our fans. ORU is the perfect opponent for someone like Rogers to show he can help us this year. I'm at least glad to see Jones can play. We need the depth for sure, especially since Nwankwo is underperforming what we expected.
Im not convinced that nwankwo will even play come conference time.. Jones should immediately get all of his minutes. I guess I would rank nwankwo above atak, but man idk. Maybe not in the long run, and im not an atak fan as of now either

how can you not be a fan of a 6'9" dude that can shoot the 3 like he does?

He is awkward out there. I think next year he might figure it out.. But I don't think he'll be able to bang down low or be physical enough to fight for boards imo

Atak is the kind of player Moser needs to have a short leash with. At this point, his value is entirely dependent on whether he is making his shot. On nights he is hitting, give him more minutes. But if he comes in and misses his first couple and gets abused defensively, have a quick hook and probably don’t give him any more minutes later in the game.

agree in games that matter .. but in games like last night 20 min at least

Like his entire career?
You comparing HS level to high level D-1? It's a totally different game at this level...and Atak is still getting adjusted to it, you can tell. He has a lot of upside, but needs to continue to add strength. I'm just not sure he has the body type to add a lot of bulk. I love his wingspan though, and having a guy at 6'9" who can stroke it from deep never hurts.

Oh shoot I thought they were talking about JN. My bad. Yes, Atak is still adjusting. He’s still about a year away imo. Doesn’t mean he can’t contribute!

Bball ref hadn't updated with yesterday's numbers. As long as that number is under 3.5, I'm fine with it. As teams get more film, they're going to dial in on Pack and Brown and force others to make plays. They need to catch and shoot with confidence because defenses are going to ask them to do it.

Yup totally fine against ORU to play him as much as you want and you probably should play him as much as possible, but then that is stupid that Rogers sits...

I’m with you. JN starts getting a better feel on defensive assignments and offensive decision making, or Atak being a better rebounder & defender. Whoever does those gets the minutes, other one to the bench unless an injury.

Wow, that would be wild to waste that many possessions. Listen to Tyler Neal’s pod recapping the Nebraska game where he noted that teams are helping off Davis and Reid because they realize they aren’t good shooters and are more than willing to give them perimeter shots. The answer to make teams pay for focusing on Pack and Brown is to play Dayton and Jones more, if Jones can consistently make shots to go along with his defense. In fact, if Jones can be a reliable shooter, I think they should seriously consider starting him at the three. I’m not going to get too giddy about Jones based on one game against a terrible team, but I feel comfortable already that he is a big upgrade defensively. We won’t know till we see him play a few games against real teams how his offense will look, but if he can make 36 or 37 percent of his threes and give you some offense, I think that’s a better lineup than having Reid and Davis on the floor together.
