Should be a good one. Matchup of top 5 draft picks. (EDIT: I thought Texas was favored, which didn't make sense to me. They are 7.5 dogs, which makes a lot more sense).

Just going to use this thread as a place for all the non-OU games today.

Watching Mizzou-St. Johns now, and a couple observations.

Mizzou is damn good. They would have been scary with Porter Jr.

Shamorie Ponds from St. John is a guy we recruited, and he is really good. Will be an all-american by the time he's done.

I was really surprised with what Texas did against Butler yesterday. Will be interesting to see how they fare against Duke. I want to see how la la la la la Mobamba stacks up.

Bamba is a freak. He changes every game completely by being on the court. He doesn't have to do anything to fundamentally screw up what the opposing team is trying to do.

and he plays smart ball too. He's like Bill Russell. I was so envious when Shaka signed him. He had a shot to get an academic scholarship to Harvard and play - I thought that would have been a much better option. But thats me. This kid can be an all-star.

Not much point in choosing a school on academics when you're only going to be there for 8 months. Would have been a waste at Harvard. Glad we'll get to see him in the conference, and I don't really hate Texas basketball.

I certainly agree with you regarding NBA potential. But after listening to him and his family he reminded me more of a Robert Smith type (that RB who went to Ohio State and went to med school). They seemed to value an academic future as much as a basketball one. UT is a good academic school though so it wasn't a bad choice. I dont hate UT basketball either. Just their football.

Texas might just violate every team in the Big 12 this season. Shaka has that roster loaded. And every team in the Big 12 has major flaws.

2nd half starting....Texas up 12. However, Grayson Allen had 3 fouls and watched a portion of the 1st half.

Don't hate UT in sports, haha, you have said it all Ghandi!

Game is going OT. Texas may be the team to beat in the conference if Kansas isn't.

Duke wins but they are number 1 and Texas didn't have one of their top guys because of fouls.

duke won because in those final moments they played better.

Texas is better than I expected. Big 12 is really good

I haven't seen Texas yet. What is making them so much better this year, besides Mobabma? Is it the 4 start point guard they got?

They have great athletes and as far as talent is concerned....they are second only to Kansas in the Big 12. I will continue to maintain that Shaka is a below average bench coach (even overrated in other aspects as well) and he doesn't develop players all that well. Thus, he will always hold them back to a degree from reaching their full potential.
