EDMOND — Taylor Norman was looking for Katelyn Levings to roll to the basket early in the fourth. Levings wasn’t moving, though.
Norman waved her to the basket off the screen. She lobbed a pass to her 6-foot-3 freshman center who scored as she was fouled.
After making a free throw, No. 10-ranked Edmond Memorial was really rolling late with a double-digit lead in Thursday’s 57-38 win over No. 20 Moore in a Class 6A regional tournament at Deer Creek High School.
“We’re all learning about each other and learning about this team together,” said Norman, a sophomore and Memorial’s lone returning starter. “We’ve definitely come together at the right time, I think.”
Edmond Memorial moved to 16-8 on the year and will face No. 4 Deer Creek at 1:30 p.m. Saturday for the regional title. The Antlers beat U.S. Grant, 62-8.
Memorial took control when Moore’s Shala Robinson and Ashanti Day were in foul trouble. The Bulldogs extended a four-point lead to 13 to close the first half. They then weathered a dismal offensive third quarter before Norman and Levings took over down the stretch. Levings scored seven of her nine points in the final period behind the pick-androll with Norman, who finished with a game-high 14. Day scored 12, while Gabbie Guzman added 11 and Robinson finished with 10.
