As a teenager my club team was playing in a soccer tournament in Arkansas.... We were playing against a team that we thought we had no chance of beating. Getting late in the game, score is tied, and I get a breakaway... Just me and the goalie. Goalie comes out to challenge me, and I get around him, now its just me and the net. I get so bloodthirsty at seeing a wide open net that instead of just dribbling the ball into the goal I shoot right away, and I ****in miss. Ball goes over the top bar and we lost in extra minutes.

At the the time, it was a big deal. By the time the next game rolled around, and especially the next season rolled around, I didnt give a crap. Mine wasn't public and people weren't talk about it on the internet and on TV, but these things happen and it will wear off.

I bet a lot of you have similar stories if you played sports...

When they call OU on Sunday, Spangler will feel right as rain.

Spangler and the rest of the team will get a lot of love and support from the fans at the Tip In Club Banquet on Sunday afternoon. One of the great benefits of the event is that fans have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the players and their families. Also, we get to hang around and be there near the team when "OU" is announced on Selection Sunday.

Looking forward to it.

Iowa St was the better team this year plain and simple. Just like OU was better than OSU this year.

Sorry, don't buy it. They beat us because of a total fluke play at the end. That's it. We smoked them in Norman (after they built up a double digit in the first half), and they smoked us in the second half in Ames.

Last night was an utterly fluke play away from being an OT game, one we can't know who would have won. ISU blew the defense on that final play. Badly. I can only imagine the meltdown here if the play had been reversed, if we'd allowed a guy to be that open under the basket and tie the game.

All this on a night our best player wasn't shooting very well. It happens. These two teams tied for second in the Big 12 and they couldn't be more even.

I completely agree. It's very aggravating losing to ISU, especially in the manner that we did. I don't dislike their coach or players really, but I'm starting to get annoyed by them just the same. All year they've been ranked ahead of us, even with the same record, a season split, and we'd played a tougher non-conference schedule. Now the national perception that they're the better team just got validated. And it doesn't matter that they had two home court games against us and barely scraped by.

Watching the game replay on ESPN they kept saying "Oklahoma would not go away" - as if an inferior team just kept hanging around through grit. We had several chances to prove it this year even though they had the home court advantage, and we blew it.

Yeah, watching it on TV, it was obvious how much of a crowd advantage that ISU had. A 150 distance advantage definitely paid off for the "clones.

I dont think ISU was the better team. I think ISU played better when they needed to in order to win a game. OU held their own. Evenly matched teams.

I do think we were outcoached though. I appreciate the fact that LK doesn't yell and scream ... but a couple of times he has needed to.

Honestly, I wouldn't even say Spangler missed. It clearly slipped out of his hands. It's not like he misjudged the angle or something... it slipped.

I agree with all of this, except the conclusion. It's all about the end results.

If the season were over right now, the results say ISU is slightly better than OU. Anything else is just jibber-jabber in the end.

The good thing is...being "better" than ISU isn't the ultimate goal for OU basketball, and we have an NCAA tournament in front of us. How OU does next week and beyond is the only thing most people will remember.

You can't argue scoreboard I guess. I think Oklahoma has a good argument that they're equal to ISU and they just got lucky (who has the ball slip out on an uncontested shot TWICE in one game.) But the winners get to call it sour grapes.
