No I certainly dont expect Cezar to be the savior and he doesnt have to. Im saying that he can take care of the ball and make you pay with his ability to score. Having OSby Pledger, Cezar,Titz, and Clark on the floor at the same time will be a huge improvement on offense from this season. Cezar's personality and playing style will also be something that will draw fans attention and I think this is equally important. I just think Cezar is Capels shot at a dramatic improvement for next year bc there isnt anymore impact players left out there.

People can act like predicting 0 wins was ridiculous but it wasn't. Every team OU has beaten had reasons they could have and should have won. CU had a substantially better backcourt. ISU was a road game. Tech has more experience. Baylor simply should not have lost to OU.

So last year you wanted him fired... but this year after four minor upsets you have changed your mind. What about the drumming to Virginia who by the way is 10th in the all mighty ACC or the loss to Chaminade or the 10 double digit losses on the season.

I took Denver's post to mean he was willing to reserve final judgement for one more year. Nothing more, nothing lless.

I would have fired him last season but once the decision was made to give him another year, I think he has done well enough under the circumstances to merit one more year.

Fair enough.

I don't think you should be able to have several of the worst seasons in the history of the program and start rebuilding again in your 5th and 6th seasons. A few 13-18 seasons in your 4th and 5th year (one with a crazy talented team and one with a no talent team) just wouldn't cut it at ANY other top 20 program in the country, why should it here?

I voted gone. But, of course, if he comes back next year and has a good season and OU goes to the dance, I (and others who want him gone) will support him.

PG: TMG (crazy talented)
SG: WW (crazy talented)
SF: Tony Crocker (4th year senior, would be the best player on this years team)
PF: Andrew Fitz (currently the best player on this years team)
C: Tiny Gallon (crazy talented)

It was a crazy talented team that Capel couldn't control. There isnt even any refuting that. Some of the guys were cancer, but that doesnt change their talent.

$1,000,000 worth of physicaL basketball talent isn't worth anything if the player has a 25 cent brain and 10 cents worth of maturity.

I was laughing more at you claiming you will support Capel.

Still, in regards to last years team, WW was never healthy. Fitzgerald was not even close to the same player he is this year (If you haven't noticed, he dropped a few pounds in the offseason).

TMG and Tiny were talented in certain areas, they were not overall crazy talented players in every facet of the game. Their shortcomings on the court were significant enough that they, at times, neutralized their strengths. Not to mention, attitude, toughness, selflessness, and a desire to win is everything in college sports, and those two definitely didn't have it. There isnt even any refuting that.

I thought he should've been fired after last season. I still think he should be fired after this season. But if he is the coach in 2012 I will support he and his team vigorously and hope for nothing but wild success.

I'll still go to the games either way.

I was this way until they won the 4 straight, all 4 of which I thought they would lose. Now, I'm to the point that the 4 straight wins should get him another year, but if he's fired I won't riot in the streets or stop supporting him.

I think I've bought in that Osby is going to be "crazy talented" (thanks ABD) and that Goff is going to be an enforce with Clark, Pledger, Fitz and hopefully Cezar. If I'm wrong, I'll be wearing egg on my face.

I say gone because Capel has failed to win enough games.

I agree and I think there's a good chance next year we may fall to a level where it's going to be hard for the next guy to recover our program. We may be looking at games where the LNC is basically empty. And I mean even fewer than what showed up for Nebraska.

stay... imo, the guy can coach... the improvement of guys who have stayed more than a year under his tenure has been pretty significant... and from watching the team this year, he has put these guys in situations to succeed, the guys just haven't been good enough to always finish... i think next year is better and the following year will be a really fun team to watch...

I figure that we might as well give him another year. We've already lost most of the recruiting momentum we built over the last 30 years. This year or next, Jeff is the only one that can keep us from having to go full mercenary.

If Jeff can't save his own bacon, we're left with really only one choice and that is to throw a ton of money at a superstar coach to try and re-energize the program.

Our margin of error was thin all along.

I say "stay." But what would you expect from someone who is starting to look forward to being called an idiot at least a couple of times a day?

Once he got an extension and pay raise, the wait and see mentality no longer applies. He has a big time contract at a big time school and results are a must. I have numerous issues with Capel as coach and most have been discussed on this board, but what gets me the most is the lack of fundamentals. Against Nebraska it was screening. We can't set screens on offense and we can't beat a screen on defense. Defense has been on a downhill slide since Capel took over. Hell, I probably could count on one hand the number times we have scored on an inbounds play.

You know I can remember John Blake's final year and people saying he should have another year. Being a youngster, I almost started to believe it. Boy, am I glad OU made a change.
