I'm not a huge NBA fan outside the Thunder but I had no idea Elijah Harkless was in the NBA much less playing significant minutes for the Utah Jazz. I saw him mentioned in this video about Jokic and his flopping.

He was smart to go to unlv and get junk stats. it showed him as a 18 or something PPG player (on inefficient volume shooting)...

I was the biggest EJ critic there was and still don't think he was very good for us, offensively. But props to him. Utah is very much actively tanking, to the point that the league is looking into it, but regardless, Harkless being an NBA player is definitely impressive and far beyond what I expected. His time here was an early indication of Moser's ineptitude. Harkless handled the ball way too much, and shot way too much, for a guy who didn't do either of those things well. If Moser had found a way to play to his strengths and minimize his weaknesses, he would have been much better for us.

The fact he is in the nba supports his higher usage at ou. Moser has proven not to be the guy at ou but not everything he has done has been bad.

He had a 2.3/2.0 ast/to ratio first year and a negative ast/to ratio the following year for us. while shooting sub-33.3% from 3 both years for us.

He shot his worst, 28% from 3 at UNLV but he threw up 19.1 pts/game.

Basically hes a guard that can't shoot and def should not be handling the ball. His 3 %s are atrocious now in the NBA and the lowest they've ever been.. honestly, I think he's just lucky to be on just the right team that needs bodies, think okc with Poku, Darius bazley, or theo maledon

Not that simple, Tiny. Guys can make the NBA without being good offensive players. He is a perfect example. His efficiency was awful in college and is laughably bad in the NBA. And let's not get carried away -- he has only played 12 games this year and is playing 13 mins per game. Dennis Rodman made the NBA and was a star. Should he have been a featured offensive player on a power conference team? He is an extreme example but there are plenty of NBA guys who were offensive role players in college. That's what Harkless should have been.

The ou team he played on was one of the least talented I can recall. He clearly was one of the most talented on that team. He is playing real minutes in the nba. That is incredibly rare for college basketball players.

And he was only the fourth leading scorer on said team, yet had a higher usage rate than any other guard on the team. It was not a coincidence that that team played its best ball after he was hurt. The offense was better without him taking bad shots and turning it over.
