Is the Mickey kid related to the former OU tight end named (I think) Joel Mickey?

JM82, what can you tell us about Jordan's game? I have seen him play on video. He's super athletic and very active around the rim, but a bit undersized right now to play the PF position in college. Still plenty of time to grow into his frame, so I don't see that as a big deal.

Does he project as a four in college? The report I read said KU leads for his services. Is that an accurate statement? Where does OU stand, do we have a chance of signing Jordan?

Thanks in advance for anything you can add.

Well, first off you must remember I'm a football guy. Jordan lives in Dallas w/ his mother and I am of course here in OKC. You know I would love to see him come here, but it will ultimately be his decision. I have spoken to SoonerDaze in Dallas and via email. He keeps me up to date as to what is going on w/ Jordan on the court. S. Clark's dad (my high school team mate) keeps me up to date whenever they play in the same gym with Jordan as well. I agree with you on his size and have expressed my two cents with what I believe he could work on to give him the best advantage in college. SoonerDaze is very familiar with this topic. He would be a good source of info.

Thanks for your input, JMickey82! You should post more often. It took you a full year to break the ice. Your next posts should be easier. :)

SoonerDaze is a great source for basketball in the DFW area. He is a regular contributor here. I always look forward to his posts. Maybe he'll read this thread and weigh in on the prospect of Jordan choosing OU, as well as the position he'll play in college.

Please continue to keep us apprised of any new developments.

I am hoping that Jordan will come to OU and bring several of his AAU buddies with him. Kruger will have quite a few ships to work with in 2013 and it would be nice for several of those guys to come play for the same school.

Thanks for posting, JMickey.

Jordan is loving the recruiting process. From all reports, he's kicking back and enjoying the ride. Doubt he'll show his hand early. He's aligned with some big forces in this area who have had a TON of influence over the years with prospects.

As Joey and I have discussed before, Jordan needs to try and block out as much of the hype and hangers-on as possible, for as long as possible. Bear in mind, we are basically one calendar year from Jordan, and the rest of the 2013 class, taking official visits, early signing period, and application of hardcore persuasion tactics.

From my perspective, Jordan is not yet ready to play on the perimeter. Though he's improved his perimeter offensive skills and I believe they would allow him to play a face-up 4, and maybe even a 3 by this time next year, I don't see any way he can defend on the perimeter - especially in a high-major league like the Big12. He has continued to grow and is now a legit 6'8" in shoes. His wing span is huge, which would allow him to play and defend in a zone, at the top or on the wings.

By the time he gets to college and gets some solid college coaching, he could easily (IMO) be taught to defend on the perimeter and could increase his ball skills enough to play the 3 at the high-major level. Kind of in the mold of Josh Howard when he was with the Mavericks.

If I had to predict where Jordan will end up, about the only thing I feel relatively solid about is his wanting to play the 3 and only the 3. So, he'll likely end up going to a program willing to make that promise. Don't know how Kruger would view that, so it's hard to predict our chances.

Judging from the game yesterday, the only players that were glued to a position were Fitzgerald, Arent, and Washington. So that seems to be a good indication of how Mickey would fit in. I know Kansas has offered and TAMU was recruiting him hard. How that changes with the conference system is a question I would like answered.

Kruger in attendance.

There are a lot of important 2013 recruits at this event so I am glad that he is there and realizing the importance of being there.
