I wish i felt that way, but I'm sick to death of these guys putting our program in dutch with behavior they know is wrong. And I feel the same way about our shoplifters, in a probationary way --- they had better keep their noses SPOTLESS during their remaining time in Norman.
I don't begrudge Tiny any future success, but he's off my radar. I don't even think of him as a former Sooner. His game didn't really progress while he was at OU, and I just feel no connection to him (or TMG) at all. They showed no discipline, they didn't work terribly hard (from all reports), and they arrived in Norman looking to leave.
I hate the one-and-done rule with a fiery passion. It's what let these guys come to OU, pull our program down to its lowest level in decades and then skip out of town.
There's a little devil on my shoulder telling me to wish them ill, to hope they don't get drafted and end up playing in Lithuania or somewhere, but I'm trying to ignore him and just not give them another thought.
I'm aware the above sounds harsh, and it probably is. I'm not proud of it, but I'm just being honest. That's how upset I am at how the last nine months went.
I understand what you are saying and more to a point with TMG than Tiny. Tiny showed he had the ability to work and showed at least some progress toward the end of the year. TMG completely fell apart and was apparent that he had 1 foot out the door. I agree completely with you about the 1 and done rule, I hate it with a passion too for that very reason. Guys like TMG don't want to be in school and in the end that's why I'm not wishing any ill will towards him. I definitely see that side of it though and to be honest the line is probably very thin between it.
