Fire Porter Moser

at this point we will likely end up with 0 good wins.
looking at the schedul....we may not win another one until georgia.

i see georgia/a&m/LSU/auburn as our only winnable games left on the schedule.
if we have a really hot shooting night...there might be one other w but that's unexpected and unpredictable.
I think we have too much talent (and shooting) to not find a surprise win somewhere along the line. It'll probably happen when we least expect it, unless Moser completely loses the team.

Lose the next three, and they'll let him go mid-season.
Lets break it down:

@ Missouri- Coming off back to back losses, Mark Mitchell will dominate the paint. High probability of a loss.

Arkansas- Man coach Cal lays some eggs on the road, maybe OU lights it up from 3 and squeaks one out in front of 1500 fans for that "Surprise win"? Toss up but OU will be a 4-6 point dog at home

Texas- Porters beaten them what twice? New coach so maybe, but Texas has the better roster and will be favored. If they go 0-2 the prior two games, the student section should do a bag game.

@ Kentucky- No just no. If Pope loses this one he's probably fired before Porter.

@ Vandy- Duke Miles revenge game for 25 and Vandy scores triple digits.

Probably 80% likely they return home in 2 weeks vs Georgia either .500 or a losing record. Surely by then you've seen enough.

Full apathy has set in for me. I haven't watched the last 2 games. I have held out hope until this string of losses for Porter because he is very likeable, but it is past time for him to move on.

This is a legit question and not meant to be a shot at you, I am genuinely curious because I see lots of people say this -- what makes you find him likeable? He is energetic and knows how to make a good showing with the media, but I find his nonstop string of excuses very off-putting. I rarely hear him take much of the blame. He has complained about so many things -- NIL, the portal, crowd support, the committee, injuries, etc. He seems to limit access to the program (admittedly Lon was a tough act to follow there). And the culture wall is so cheesy -- I kid about it, but it makes me cringe for a guy who has had so little success to constantly talk about a culture wall. Add in his demeanor on the sidelines, and I find very little to like about him.

I bet weather keeps 90% of them away. I bet you have a 1500-2000 fan crowd that's spread out and looks like 20. With 60% ark fans.
Oh, I just checked where it lands on the schedule. It's next Tuesday after the snow/ice storm has come through. Yep. Small crowd.

If we were playing Arkansas at home on a Saturday, they'd fill Lloyd Noble barring bad weather.

Don't forget that this is the Northweather revenge game coming up.

That and the bush league stuff like continuing to press down 20 with a minute left, or like last night, fouling with 3 seconds left on the clock. It’s embarrassing.

Everyone that works with or knows Porter speaks about what a great guy he is. Everyone at OU seems to like him and speak highly of him. He’s a good family Catholic man. On the sidelines during a game, he’s a nervous tick. He’s likable because he’s a good man. Unfortunately for everyone, he’s just not a good basketball coach.

A big part of the problem is that he instills a great culture -- but that culture does not include accountability for effort or attention to detail on the floor. He plays favorites, leans on history more than adjusting to his current team's strengths, and whiplashes every year to address the gaps from the previous year, creating obvious gaps elsewhere.

Also, his complete inability to recruit any solid post players in 6 years is beyond maddening.

I mean, he has lost assistants at an alarming rate. And what do you expect people to say? Assistant coaches and staffers aren't going to publicly say anything negative if they want to stay in the business. Assistants who really enjoy working for someone aren't likely to bounce midseason, or after one season. It happens to him all the time.

And the "good family Catholic man" thing -- ok? I mean, I am guessing you have spent no time with Moser, at least nothing beyond surface level stuff. I sure haven't. People make the mistake all the time of assuming they know what someone is like because the person is in the public spotlight. I am not saying he is a bad guy or has any skeletons, none of us know that. But I just don't find him to be likeable in the way he runs a program.

I have courtside seats and am honestly contemplating driving the hour and a half to screw with it.

Do we think Terry Stotts would take the job if offered? He is getting up there in age, and might be more of an NBA guy. But if he was interested at all, I think it would be a no brainer hire.
