Fire Porter Moser

I agree but I don't see us doubling our NIL budget basically. And even then if only a player or two don't mesh it could be a disaster.
Nothing is more predictable than one coach supporting other coaches. Moser (or any other coach) could literally take a dump at halfcourt and his fellow coaches would talk about how good a job he is doing and argue that he just needs more support from the administration.

I read that and one thing stands out -- no state tourney appearances in a long career.

Look, part of me feels bad making fun of your resume, but you emphasize your credentials all the time (you make your coaching gig the emphasis of your user name, for crying out loud), and you tout yourself as an insider and imply that you know stuff the rest of us don't. Maybe you once had inside info, but that sure seems to have dried up. I am fully aware that a lot of people on this board hate me, but I have never pretended to have intel that others don't. I just post my own observations and thoughts on the program and coach.

I also have admitted plenty of times when I am wrong about a player or a coaching move. You finally came around very grudgingly and said you would be ok with moving on from Moser, but now that they have won a few games and some people are (falsely) thinking we can make the tourney with two more wins, you are back to talking crap to the people who want Moser gone.
Sure. Many guys go whole careers without a state tournament appearances. Long career… I mean I still have another 20 before I can retire.
Hope it’s a tad longer.

Some of the best in the business never make it. Some don’t chase talent. Some guys move 8 df jobs.

Some actually Coach and some actually think they could coach. 2 very different people.

Almost like I have been saying this for months now.

The money isn't flowing in for either the men's or women's programs, right now. Both are underperforming. Jennie has a real chance to have her worst roster since Drake next season. The frontcourt will be atrocious, unless some NIL comes in at the last minute for a transfer. And the men's team will be very similar to this year, likely worse.

I dont follow the womens team but they are going to be a #4 seed in the tourney, finished 5th in conference, and are presumably ranked. Why do you say they are underperforming? Porter Moron could only dream of such a season..

In addition to the above programs, another handful of schools with hot seat questions play on Wednesday: Memphis, Butler, LSU and Oklahoma. One could make the argument that none of those four programs ends up making a coaching change this spring. Things are trending toward Porter Moser getting another season at Oklahoma, although he could also look to make a move on his own before facing another year on the hot seat in 2026-27. Memphis and Butler are difficult to read, while Matt McMahon's future at LSU is not quite solidified, either.

WBB is probably performing okay but you can tell they lack any real depth.

We gave moser more NIL and he wasted it. Hes not going to suddenly become a good coach. Hes not a big league coach. Send him back to the minor leagues.

Maybe we need a demonstration to get the point across. Someone drag the popcorn machine out of the dumpster and set in on fire again…on Denny’s front lawn.

Moser has lost the fanbase. We are going to waste another season, for what?

Man this can't be real. Is our athletic department serious? Considering giving Moser a SIXTH year? That would be epically insane. If these rumors are true. What a laughingstock it would make OU. Terrible.. Is OU trying to be a mid major athletic department?

You will end up paying 5 million for the buy out. Plus 1 or 2 million more for the staff. Then probably have to spend around that much to bring in a new coach plus his staff. Then you have to pay about 5 million dollars more for a roster. You won't have all that after next year since it's a contract year.

So? Is OU poor? The amount of fans and dollars YOY they will lose if they allow this clown show to continue another year could be catastrophic. Even if I had donor type money, seeing as how this athletic administration has handled Moser I would already be slow to give anything to them. I'd be terrified at their lack of judgement and intelligence. If they make a move after the SEC tournament, I would still think they are stupid for not firing him 2 years ago, but not quite as stupid. If they gave him another year, I might never give them another dime. How can I trust them?

You want the depressing parts?

The buyout will only drop to 2.625 next year for 26-27, not including that we paid his 3.4 million salary....

Moser may have saved his job. A lot of us predicted that was a huge possibility if he managed 18 or 19 wins. I absolutely expect OU to beat SC tonight. They still need to get to 20 wins to be safe. Which I don’t think happens. But, I think the buyout and the first year AD has way more to do with it than Moser’s abilities. The shine of the Final Four has worn off. Nobody around the country still believes he’s anything better than a mediocre coach. But OU may be stuck with him for one more year. I do think this new AD wants the OU program to be more than a bubble team every year. But it may take another year for the firing to happen.

But the name calling and angst on this board between a few members is completely uneeded. Nobody “knows” anything. We’re just fans throwing **** against the wall and every now and again something sticks. There’s no one member on this board who knows more than the other one with the exception of notaburner because he clearly has inside knowledge.

The buyout will only drop to 4.83 next year for 26-27 (only like 600k in savings and actually he/staff will get like 100-200k for staying another year anyway)....

then 2.45 buyout for 27-28 (I'm not including his annual "stay" salary increases either in any of this).

Are you sure about this?

ChatGPT says it is 75% of what is owed on contract and that it drops to~$2.55mil next year.

Because they were a #3 seed last year, added the #1 player in the country, and are somehow worse than last year.

if denny wants basketball to be more than a bubble team....then he has to dump moser asap...
anything else proves rather quickly what kind of ad he is.
a good ad has high standards and the balls to act immediately and is savvy enough to get the program back on course.

Hey Boom, you are right. Notaburner was all knowing. Where is he or she been, haven't seen a post in a while.

I have moved past the Moser should or should be fired issue. Don't really think it would be right, but frankly, don't really care either way. And regardless of whether Moser is the Coach next year, I would love to see OU go on a run for the benefit of the team and coaches. They have worked hard to turn this year around and it has been fund watching it. Watching the SEC tournament, and NCAA tournament, will be more fun if OU is in it.

One topic on this thread I do disagree with is the thought that doubling the NIL wouldn't impact our record. That is plain silly. Take the team this year, and put a 4 million dollar center on it and you have a completely different record. We are measurably better when we just get Mo to stay on the court for 20 minutes a game. Give any team a real center, they are going to be a much improved team.

Granted I haven't watched a lot of women's bball but that #1 player is so inefficient it hurts the team. She has had some clutch moments but she needs to be much higher than 37% field goals
