Fire Porter Moser

There’s something to be said that the team never totally fell apart and is playing harder than ever. The ability to hold the team together after that losing streak is nothing to take for granted. And yet, those were some bad losses.

It seems like it would be tough to fire him after the way this season is ending as one of the hottest teams in country.
He's gonna cock-tease us with his best team performing at a #2 seed level currently not even making the tourney and I'm going to die to not see what they could have done..

Yup...that was Osby and Pledger's team...and M'baye was the third best player. I believe Hornbeak started more games than Buddy that year (they were both freshmen). Regardless, 20 wins sounds nice right about now...and would lock us in to the Dance.

Here's an excruciating thought for some. What if we lose tomorrow, don't make it to the Dance AND Moser keeps his job. Is that scenario plausible?
Very plausible. Prolly 70%ish imo. Their focus is only on football

To be fair that means we won 20 games in 46% of the Kruger and Capel years. Moser won’t be fired, but it’s not going to be because we ignored 6 of the past 20 seasons to make a point.

Even if we ignore that Capel's tenure was night and day different with vs without Blake, and the same for Lon's tenure with and without Buddy...50% with a win tomorrow would still be a bigger number than 46%.

In a smaller sample size with weaker scheduling and with your logic, I guess you have to take Fears' year out of your equation too. We wouldn't have even won 13 games last year without Fears imo. So idk what were doing here.

Yes

Osby was clearly the star of that team, but if you call Buddy a role player, then it was just Osby and a bunch of role players.

I agree that Buddy's contributions don't discredit that 20 win season, but it's another caveat that simply makes the statement longer and more confusing. It would then be 3 20 win seasons in a row vs 2, so the point still stands.

I grew up mostly in the Sampson era, so I'm not even remotely content with the Moser era. But it is pretty much status quo for the past two decades, with the main difference being that Moser hasn't had a multi-year generational player. He had Fears and put up comparable results to the Trae season.

Fears only played one year with us and that season was comparable to the Trae Young season. One year of him isn't in the same stratosphere as 2 years of Blake or 4 years of Buddy.

Well who's fault is it that pm hasn't recruited or developed a sort of player like Blake or buddy?

Capel has coached 17 years and and Kruger coached 35 years. Neither ever replicated those results.
Well Kruger previously made another final 4 in 1994 and didn't need a NBA all star to do so. So id say he previously achieved his buddy year(s) just fine.

Capel sucks but still has a better win % at OU then porter does FWIW.

I just think it's silly to try and prop up this meaningless 20 wins in 3 seasons achievement, especially when 1 of your 3 seasons is still only theoretical and the other half of the 2 seasons was a failure bc we missed the tourney

I said in my initial post that Sampson had 20+ wins in each of his final 9 seasons, so I'm not sure why you're accusing me of propping anything up.

Using 20 wins as a benchmark is so 1995, especially when we schedule 12 wins against horrible teams and we play 32 games. 20 wins is not the gold standard anymore and hasn’t been for years.
