Fire Porter Moser

There is recent precedent for a power conference school firing a coach midseason. Ohio State did it two years ago, though they waited till Feb. 14. Then again, he was far more successful than Moser. He got them to four tourneys in his first five years, and they canned him in the second of two straight bad years. We have given Bozo the Coach five bad years.

If we lose to South Carolina, I say that we fire him the next day. Like you said prove to the fanbase, that we understand this isn't the direction we want this program to go.
I agree. A loss to S Carolina will truly be a program low. Even lower than the loss to LSU last year.

“We got to get a hell of a lot better”- Coach Jenny.

I like that. No coach speak.

I disagree. There is gain
I don't know how.

Our next HC is not on the current staff.

I don't want any of the assistants back under the next HC.

No reason to try to keep most of the players happy with a switch (big assumption that they want a change), given most will leave or have to be re-recruited anyways.

Not to mention, if we fire him midseason, we're definitely paying the buy out.

If you let the season play out, he might be willing and able to find another job and thus we wouldn't have to pay it.

I think if Moser leaves on his own accord for a different program it'll be to go back to the mid majors maybe closer to home? I don't think any legitimate P4 program would be entice by what he's done in Norman, if they are then maybe it's because they know a difference in resources and atmosphere (let's not pretend Lloyd Noble is a good BB environment right now) could really make a difference... But I am doubtful. Just going off of games we should have won in the last couple minutes and ended up losing

Speaking of, is this new arena even happening for sure? It seems like everyone in the city is against it and it's still up in the air. If it is for sure happening when is it expected to be finished? In another 4 years??

The talent that is on this team should be tourney bound.
You make the switch, the team comes together, put together some nice play and maybe make the tournament

I want X back so i want his step dad back ... I would also not mind Hump coming back

We know how this is going to go:

Porter's on the hot seat. We win 3 of next 4 against bad teams. Hope is restored for a tournament season, but were all wary about what happens next.

We lose 3 of the next 4 (UK, Vandy, Georgia, Tenn). Now we're 5-8 with 5 winnable games and the SEC tournament in front of us. Every chance in the world to finish with a winning streak to get .500 or better in conference. We get a few but fall apart on the road at LSU and UT. Finish 7-11 or 8-10.

Win against a shitty team in the first round of the SEC tournament before getting run off the floor in game 2. Listen to Porter talk for a week about how tough this league is.

Miss the tournament (first four out) or, even, barely squeeze in to the play-in game. Lose the first game and listen to an offseason full of NIL talk.

Our team this year is good enough to make the tournament and offensively good enough to be a thorn in some sides in the post-season. We need better coaching, period.
I think the damn breaks this year and its not even close this time.. well see. We're already not near our 40s we always were in with Kempom rn

This team is going to end up much closer to his second team from a record standpoint. We are absolutely cooked. And yes, the team has quit on him. They have not played hard defensively all season. That crappy effort started even before we started losing to teams we should beat. Don’t get confused based on the occasional game we keep close against a good team.
They haven't quit on him. They didn't play defense bc Loser did not demand it. He did not hold them accountable. Often a player's worst enemy is himself. They yearn for accountability and correction. Bodybuilders have spotters that are always wayyyy less jacked than them, but they still use them to keep themselves accountable. We don't have that with Porter Moron, so the players often cut corners and likely don't even know it.

I remember one time we quit watching film for awhile and then we back to watching film. We were all dogging it. Giving up lazy offensive rebounds. Not trying on defense. We had no idea. Its just like that, when you don't have accountability. What do you think Sampson's bread and butter is???

So ignore the successful coaching stop that they've been at for 10 years, and instead focus on what happened 20 years ago. Got it.
But look at his loyola record.. it wasn't actually good.. he had 2 good seasons and that was about it. His career win % is barely better at loyola than OU. What does that tell you, big dog?

I think the debate about firing him now is largely academic because even though I’m fully in favor and driving that bandwagon, it’s very unlikely to happen. The reason I favor it is because I do think there is something to gain, even if it’s intangible. I don’t think an interim coach would spark a turnaround. And we are so far from the bubble that the tourney is not reasonable. But I think the benefit is that it would show the small number of fans who still care about the program that the administration knows this isn’t acceptable and that they aren’t going to look the other way for even another few weeks. And maybe a slightly more tangible benefit is it gives you a head start on whichever other schools end up looking for a coach after the season. The lame duck status of Joe C obviously complicates that, I realize.

Bottom line, watching this tool coach is death by a thousand paper cuts. Those of us who watch every minute of every game shouldn’t be forced to endure it for another 13 regular season games and an obligatory Wednesday loss in the conference tournament. But again, I know it won’t happen. I am just venting about what I think should happen.
Meh.

Then don't watch?

I want him to own his failure. Nothing you said really is a significant theoretical benefit

His 10 year stay at Loyola was wildly successful. Most successful tenure in school history without question.
Wildly? Lolol. Absent the 2 seasons how did he do (i know, I know, you don't get to just do that, look at Kruger taking out his final 4. Blah blah blah). Bottom line is hes a 55% winning coach.. about to be 54% after this year. Thats pooptrash

I have a question for this board. Do you think last year's team would beat this year's team? If you ask me this question before the season starts I would say this year's team would blow last year's team out of the water but now I'm not so sure. Right now I'm leaning towards last year's team being the better team, definitely towards the beginning of the season anyway. All of Moser's teams end up sucking in the second half of the season which is the most important part, lmao. At this point all you can do is just shake your head and chuckle.

I think we could bring in pretty much anyone and they would do the same thing PM is doing now, if not better after a season adjustment or so.... I don't think it's a big loss if we cut ties with him

Huh? 90 percent of this board talks about how badly the administration has failed the program and how they fail to support the team and fail to show the fans they care. You don’t think showing the fans that this level of incompetence isn’t acceptable isn’t a real benefit?

And I watch becuase I’ve spent my entire life as a fan and I’m loyal to the core. And my dislike for Moser doesn’t outweigh my love of the program. You seem more interested in Moser suffering than anything. I can’t stand him but if firing him sooner rather than later stops the bleeding, I’m all for it.

Six of one, half dozen of the other. Last year’s team went 6-12 with a lottery pick. This year’a team has more overall talent but no one close to Fears. They play 10 times and it’s probably a fairly close series. Fears would win some games for last year’s squad, this year’s team would win some due to better talent.

The better question to me is how this year would do against the team two years ago. Two teams that massively underperformed due to awful coaching. If you eliminate Moser from the equation and give each of those rosters a good coach and have them play each other, that would be a fun game to watch.
