Fire Porter Moser

Yeah, it's worth it.

Since 2005-06, OU hasn't made the tournament without an NBA level player. Blake, Buddy, Trae, Reaves, Fears. Unless we get another Sampson level coach and investment from leadership, this isn't changing. The ceiling is the floor, and the floor isn't very high.

2019 would be the one exception, but your point is well-taken.

In hindsight, I would definitely still want Fears because anytime a coaching staff can boast about an NBA player to recruits, it can only help. It may or may not make a difference, but there is certainly no downside to having a guy like Fears representing in the NBA.

Another reason I don't like the guy and don't give a crap about him after he leaves OU. I fully expect him to throw us under the bus.

I'll take bets, but I'd bet wherever he ends up after OU, he stinks there too.
I would guess he doesn't. He seems like a stand up guy off the court. I would be very surprised if he does this

yer. Blake, Buddy, Trae, Reaves, Fears. Unless

First you are forgetting 2018-2019 where OU was lead by Christian James, Brady Manek, Kristian Doolittle, and Rashard Odomes. that team won a game in the Dance and played 1 seed UVA fairly tough ..

I would also put a significant * by 3 of the 4 Buddy years

while Blake Trae Fears and AR were NBA level players during their Tourney runs .. Buddy was not ..

2013 and for the most part 2014 and 2015 .. Buddy was not any where close to a NBA level player .. he showed some promise in 13 and was a good college player in 14 and 15 but would not have been drafted after either season ..

I only say yes because i think having Fears as an "OU guy" is going to be good for us for a LONG LONG time ..
Imo I don't expect it to help us too much. Buddy hield was a much bigger impact player for us and idk that we've received a lot of upside from him. Hes also been criminally underrated in the pros, especially amount of 3s made.

I think reeves' publicity will actually help us some however. I still cannot believe how hes turned out. I never gave him a chance at all

Yeah so it's not the players, its the lack of a coach imo. Sampson made tourneys all the time without nba players..

Imo his ego will kick in. He has to think hes a good coach but yet ge failed 4/5 years. I think it's only natural to assign the blame elsewhere, plus he'll have to in order to rehab his future job prospects

That was supposed to be what Moser was. A guy that didn't need top flight talent, but that would build a team and develop them. That could get more out of the sum of his players' talents, because he was a good coach. That hasn't proven out to be true. I personally never thought he was a good coach. But I agree that is probably what OU basketball needs. A good coach. A good developer. Someone that can recruit to his system, and not change his system every year.

So we need to take another stab at finding a guy like that.

Even though this should be the painfully obvious answer at this point, I’m still not confident it’s going to happen. We are lucky as hell to have BV and Nagy on the football side because University leadership is a freaking cluster right now.

Not to bust your chops, but you couldn't come up with a more original username than THAT? :)

IMO a guy like that in this upcoming cycle would be Olen or Schertz. Both have adapted and had success right out of the gate at their new school, given it took Schertz a year, but still pretty quick turnaround.

I fully expect him to make general complaints about the lack of fan support, NIL, and the arena. He might not go scorched earth but he will lob subtle shots about those things.
He wouldn’t be wrong either but it will be a bad look for him and it doesn’t excuse his terrible coaching job.

I just got the Bleacher Report update "Portland Fire's 1st Jerseys". My brain didn't make it passed "Port" & Fire's". Such excitement followed by utter disappointment.

I believe I deserve some "you were rights" for telling everyone last year they we should have kicked the tires on fred hoiberg and made him an offer he couldn't refuse.. their undefeated season ended last night in Nebraska BASKETBALL. unheard of. Trending for a #2 seed.

I think he would be wrong because when you lose like he has, you are the wrong person to complain about fans. If LK or KS had complained about lack of attendance, that would be warranted because they got bad crowds even in some of their very good seasons. When you lose every well-attended game and can't beat any of your rivals, you lose the right to make it a constant talking point, at least IMO.

The details are fuzzy -- can someone remind me exactly what happened at the end of the game against Providence in the Battle 4 Atlantis last season? I remember we were up like 10ish with 30 seconds left and almost lost. Porter had 6 guys on the court or something resulting in a technical?

I mean did you think Oklahoma was going to buyout Porters 8 million dollar contract, then buyout Hoiberg's 2 million dollar contract at Nebraska? Then agree to pay him in the 6-8 million range annually?

I wish.

I mainly was just flaunting to some of the posters that said he wasn't even doing well at Nebraska at the time (bc his 1st 2 seasons or so were like 11-20s). But I saw him building and now look

Oh yeah I agree. Anybody who was saying anything about Hoiberg is an idiot in general.
