Fire Porter Moser

Without cause..?.. I think sucking a$$ … would BE CAUSE… ridiculous.

There is cause. Look at the damage he has caused the program. He should owe us for all the damage that’s been done.
Moser will argue that he didn't get enough resources and fan support resulting in his teams not reaching their ceilings.

If he is fired, Porter will have a right to his contractual buyout, even if that is the remainder owed under his contract. The only out a school ever has is if they have grounds to fire a coach for "cause", which is a term that is defined in these coaches contracts. Generally, "cause" is defined to means serious misconduct or specific lists of forbidden things. Never seen an OU basketball coach contract, but I when I was representing an athlete that had her scholarship pulled by an OU coach. We prevailed and got relief from OU for the coaches conduct, but were told the coach's conduct didn't amount to "cause" necessary to warrant job termination. But, we were told at the end of the contract, the matter would be taken into consideration on whether to renew. I'm just guessing, but would imagine all the coaches contracts are probably drafted about the same way.

While he would technically be right, here is what Kelvin Sampson publicly mentioned the other day, though no mention of the fan base. Obviously, Houston is a Final Four contender annually with him as a HOF coach. But I'm guessing Kellen may be taking over very soon. For Kelvin to say what he said tells me that retirement is near.

Nah. Imo hes just demanding more $$$ for the final pushes of his career. He wants a natty. I don't think he'll quit for 5-10 more years

Cause, no cause. No one really cares. Just fire him.

People tried to warn us that he was barely a career .500 coach. That's exactly what he is here. His biggest job was Loyola and he fell up to the SEC. He was fired at Illinois State. He's not a very good coach and is in way over his head. But at least he build a culture wall. I'm guessing he will land at St. Louis next season.

From Trilly's board today: rumors of OKC Thunder Dave Bliss (not former OU/Baylor, etc. Dave Bliss).

The username elmerfuddruckers used to be known as Senor Frog and ArmchairAD. No longer in the business, but still has contacts in the world of college athletics.

Not sure how true this is. Going to the NBA is a little out of the box, which is what OU needs and how the athletic department has been operating in the last year.

Also, the goodwill generated by the Thunder can't hurt at all.

I would like this hire. He's credited with creating/designing Okc's aggressive defensive schemes. I hope, in addition, they get someone from the NBA and create an actual general manager role too for the team.

I don’t know anything about him but the original Dave bliss did set us on the path to being a great program for a really long time. He laid a foundation that billy Tubbs turned into greatness And Kelvin Sampson also continued. Maybe it’s fate, history repeating. Or maybe we’re doomed!

If you're OU, you'd be smart to latch on to the success of the local pro team.

The Thunder can't play favorites with OU, but OU can import organizational culture from them.

I don't know if Bliss would want to take a college job in the middle of another championship run, but he's worth taking a run at.

I’d be surprised if it was him. He was a finalist for the Phoenix Suns job last cycle

As unappealing as yesterday's win was, it does show (like it or not) that the players have not quit on their head coach. They would have lost by 20+ if they had. That was my argument for allowing Moser to finish out the season before packing his bags. Of course, if they completed the collapse and lost yesterday, I probably would have come to the other side of that argument :-).

I know OU's not going to do it, but if it is a foregone conclusion he's gone I don't understand the trepidation behind firing Moser in season. Why not? Oh no! You have to appoint an interim coach? So what? If you fire him now, you don't have to go all cloak and dagger, and worry about agents talking or anything embarrassing or awkward because of this something to hide charade. Why not just fire him and get it out in the open. Everyone know. Say hey, we've had enough and shout it to the mountaintops. We want better. If you're a great coach, apply. Talk to everybody you can! Whatever, I guess they have their reasons. But the longer they do wait and the more OU pulls some fool's gold victories out of their rears(as someone said Alabama a few years ago, and yesterday) it makes me nervous that the dolts in charge won't make the right decision. Some think he got another year this year because of that meaningless ONE win against UT in Austin? Well, crap, there's plenty of time for this team, besides yesterday, to do that a couple more times and give the pea brains in charge ammo to keep him....another year. Then next year at this time we're all arguing about the same stupid crap, wondering when our beloved program will rise out of this ridiculous mediocrity.

I wish they'd just do it, now. Someone take charge...

And you can already find some of the idiot “writers” on twitter talking about how the schedule gets easier and what if they go on a run and win a few more games, etc. It makes me ill when people search so hard to try to look for reasons to not fire him. “Hey, they are still playing hard. They haven’t quit.” Nonsense. They got smoked in their last game and have had that happen a few times. They caught a Vandy team that is struggling and was missing two key pieces. Everything went right for 37 mins and they still almost lost. Yesterday just cemented how bad he is.
