Fire Porter Moser

Moser sucks and should be fired because we’ve lost double digit winnable games the last few years because of his terrible coaching. It’s really that simple. I don’t care about how good a guy he is or how clean the program is under him or any other possible lame-ass excuse. Just get this moron away from my beloved basketball program. It was athletic director malpractice by Joe C to extend the idiot’s contract in the first place. Moser should have been run two years ago but here we are.

Only have room for Kansas.
Correct. I hate Kansas basketball far more than I hate any team in any sport. And far more than anyone on this board does. Unless you and your big mouth (a) cheered for the Soviets against them in the fall of 1988 and (b) were threatened with physical violence by KU fans in Allen Fieldhouse as a preteen, you probably should sit this one out.

Well, let’s put it this way: pro franchises, including the beloved Thunder, purposely go through stages where they don’t try their best to win games because they know they will be better off in the long run if they hit rock bottom, secure draft picks, and rebuild. So while you’re entitled to your opinion, please don’t act like someone is a bad fan (or not a fan at all) if they are more concerned with the long term health of the program than a rather meaningless game this Saturday.
We don't get a draft pick, so tanking in the NBA =/= wanting us to lose to fire a coach. NBA fans teams don't hope they lose to fire their coach. Thunder fans want their team to win, regardless. Tanking sucks as a fan.

So, yes, if OU wins every game to finish the season and it keeps Moser, it is what it is because I want the Sooners to win. Will never root for us to lose.

Doesn't mean I still don't want the coach gone, there is a difference.

that is one of the reasons i would have fired him 3 weeks ago .

then i would love for OU to win as much as possible ..

I don’t think it’s that much of a difference. In both cases, the losing serves a purpose. Better draft picks are a path to future success in the pros. Getting rid of a terrible coach is a path to future success in college. And yes, I agree tanking sucks. And yes, no fan wants to be in this situation. But the reality is, we are … so if the question is what is best for the next 10 days, it’s whatever increases the odds of that man not being affiliated with the program beyond next week. Again, if I trusted that the administration was going to do the right thing and fire him regardless, it would be a huge relief.

Betrayal is not something that should be taught or condoned. We, as fans and people, hate it worse than anything. We hate Riley not because of his record but because he betrayed our trust. He had agreed to a new deal "in principle" with USC in September of his last year and then left in the middle of the night after throwing our last two games all the while lying to everyone that he hadn't done these things. How hated is Lane Kiffin in Mississippi.

This team hasn't quit and is still trying to win. This coaching staff hasn't quit and is still trying to win games -- for themselves and us. I hope this administration doesn't betray the team by firing the coach. If you want to fire the coach after the season, then fine. But until them, the right thing to do is support them the best you can. That is their role in an educational system. Their role isn't to please a loud minority of people who don't want OU to stand for and do what is right due to a lack of patience.

As I have said before, I don't particularly like Porter as a coach. But, you aren't being fair to suggest he isn't a decent, if not "good", coach. Is he the best we can do? I doubt it, but who knows based on the necessity of our commitment level for basketball. Great, good, average, bad or horrible, we hired him and he is trying to do the best job he can this year. So, my opinion is you support him and the kids on the team and then when the year is over, make a decision about whether to go in a different direction. Quitters never win. How many of you have told your kids that. Coach to the buzzer, play to the buzzer, these are all things we hope sports teaches our kids and they carry that throughout their lives. Sermon over.

Worst coach in the program in well over four decades. One of the worst power conference coaches in the nation. A loser for the vast majority of his 20-plus years, with the exception of one four-year run.

And I don't care if he is trying his best. Lots of people try their best but still lose their jobs because they aren't qualified.

Also, one coach did, in fact, quit. Just like others have done during the season under Moser.

Four year run? You mean 2? Porter moron is the biggest fraud in college basketball coaching.

Its ironic that Riley was/is also the biggest fraud in football coaching. Except Riley did some winning at least, he just was not as elite as the public's belief in him was.

Porter was highly thought of at one point (bc of 1 season essentially) he prolly still is in some small corners of the country, by ignoramuses.. if only our random final 4 HC hire was Jim larranaga or Shaka smart (sad that smart is demonstrably better) instead, no we got porter bumass moser..

He’s not decent or good. He sucks and is stealing money. Get out of here with this “betrayal” BS. If you want job security don’t go into coaching.

I’ve not seen a single person on this board or elsewhere suggest there is a basis for a “for cause” firing. But that’s irrelevant. The vast majority of coaches get fired simply because they aren’t good at their job, meaning, they don’t win enough. KSU is trying the “for cause” route because Tang has a buyout that is about $13M more than Loser’s. We don have that issue. We can fire him, hope he gets a new job that offsets some of the buyout, but if not, give him his money and be done with him. As others have said, they could recover a lot of the buyout if they can get the season ticket sales back up, and firing the Culture Wall would be a good start toward that.
I never said that someone said it…SEVERAL have said he’s prob a great guy personally… my point was Tang is prob a good guy as well… but ksu is trying the “just cause”… which think ksu will lose on that point. Prob negotiate but if I’m Tang I’m going balls to the walls.

Going 4-2 maybe 5-2 with a win tonight. Then maybe 1-1 or even 0-1 in the sec tourney… a lesser buyout next year, a new AD that wants to see hire it goes next year are all things that could return moser.

That sucks but until he’s officially gone I’m not holding my breathe.

As a fellow Wichita resident, I could not agree more

Tang! The guy that Wichita repeatedly said we should have hired.

I know it was Nowell. But without Johnson. It wasn’t happening. Color me shocked you don’t know basketball.
Yet you’ve never mentioned Nowell and just posted about Johnson. I guess if I don’t know basketball, that would make me equipped to coach your team, too.
