Fire Porter Moser

A new coach is certainly not a promise of better things. But it would have given me hope. I have zero to little hope now. I want Porter to be my neighbor, not the coach of the team I love. Regardless, I wish him well next year and hope he proves me wrong at some point.

I am really happy our new accountant AD straight up said Joe short changed the program. With double the budget we likely won’t be on the bubble. Maybe Moser can get some help on inbound plays .. AD also mentioned upgrading staff. “Inbounds Play Analyst” lol.

Coaching hire still matters, but infrastructure and NIL finding are the biggest driver now. Texas Tech has had 3 different coaches the past few years and the level of play has been comparable throughout. And it's not because Mark Adams was a good hire.

I partially agree. But we’ve seen what we’ve seen with our own eyes watching OU under Moser.

I don’t know. Having the new AD come in and say we have an “underdog spirit” is pretty damned insulting.
Yes, he needs to explain why we have an underdog spirit. We have an underdog spirit because the program has fallen to the point where we are always underdogs.

I don’t disagree with most of what Denny is saying but committing more resources to the program when the coach has so clearly failed is just setting money on fire. He is correct we need to invest more in the program. Absolutely. We also need a new coach to make the most of those resources. Keeping moser is a waste of resources.

I have ZERO faith or belief in moser. We know exactly what kind of coach he is and it’s not good enough, even for lowly underdog Oklahoma. Next season is already wasted and we will be going through all of the same things next season.

I agree that Moser is not a guy to ever reach Sampson or Tubbs level. He isn't going to single handedly put the program on his back like they did. But I also think that if he swapped places with Mccasland, he'd be outperforming him.

If Denny were to increase NIL and we win 24 games next year, that demonstrates how far money goes, and make his job of funding that much easier moving forward.

I can explain it. We’ve become this underdog through managed decline from the OU admin over the last 20 years. Joe C neutered the program through mismanagement. Joe C is responsible more than anyone else for the destruction of the basketball program and the situation we find ourselves in today.

i don't think we need $10mil to succeed.
this roster was pretty good for the reported $6.5mil ...if that is accurate.
problem is......moser might need $25mil to succeed......and that's not even a guarantee.
that's why he should be fired.
If we had a legit big this year, we would’ve been so much better. I love Mo, but he should be coming off the bench.

And to clarify, if we get left out tomorrow, I absolutely would move on from Moser. As I would have after year 3.

But if I were in Denny's shoes, I'd absolutely want to keep Bubble Moser and show donors how a few million can push us to his first >20 win season, winning conference record, and solid seeding. If we brought in a new coach, some may just point to better coaching, which is dependent on much more luck than funding.

I don't think it's just a money issue there needs to be some sort of general manager that takes off roster management for the coaches. The only way we were able to salvage the end of the season was that we basically found 8 guys that were just enough to play positive minutes to win games. You need better roster construction and that is harder to do in this era with the way players move. We have key players we probably paid quite a bit like Atak and Rogers that basically couldn't cut it at the SEC level. Maybe we get that now and have something in place that can last past Moser and make the program better.
I disagree Rogers can’t cut it. He is a freshman. He will be really good.

This sounds a little like the pitch my school district gives every other year when they pass yet another bond to increase my property taxes. But I agree that some more money can make up for some bad coaching. I am looking for more than just money though. I want to see underachievers get better and make better decisions in stressful moments. I want to see us beat more teams who are spending a lot more than we ever will. I would be happy with the Moser in February and March over a course of a season. But the larger sample size tells me more.

I really appreciate Denny’s attitude about funding the program. Whether it matters for Moser next year is kind of a footnote.

This. Set the standard and set the infrastructure up for the future of the program, not just for Moser. If you build it, they will come.

We'll believe it when we see it, but Joe C never took responsibility for the success of the basketball program. Roger appears to be taking ownership.

If we raise $10M+ for NIL and make other changes but still go 19-15, it's on Porter.
I would LOVE to see anybody convince donors to donate $10M+ more than they already have/do for the basketball program, in the coming months. Nothing is impossible, but that is pretty close. I think we're going to be a pretty small increase. $2-5M tops. I just refuse to believe anybody is going to donate more specifically for Moser and OU basketball.

Also, Joe C. was the AD over the entire athletic department. Denny isn't going to have nearly as big a role in football, and the other sports are all humming along, so yeah, if he wants to devote time somewhere, men's hoops is where he can do it. No need to take a swipe at Joe C. when the entire environment has changed.
