Fire Porter Moser

Or maybe Denny uses some funny Northern math that thinks we can get significantly more for NIL by having a ton of $2 hotdog nights. lol

This sounds a little like the pitch my school district gives every other year when they pass yet another bond to increase my property taxes. But I agree that some more money can make up for some bad coaching. I am looking for more than just money though. I want to see underachievers get better and make better decisions in stressful moments. I want to see us beat more teams who are spending a lot more than we ever will. I would be happy with the Moser in February and March over a course of a season. But the larger sample size tells me more.

I think the best case scenario is both. But I think we have to pick one, and I don't think many coaches would succeed with one of the lowest NIL budgets in conference. And then we're stuck with a coached that flopped and lost all momentum in year 1 for another 2-4 years.

After 20 years of mediocrity, this likely isn't a 6 month fix for Denny. Funding can be consistent, but making Kelvin Sampson level hires will not be.

Normally I might agree, but I feel like we got a lot of bang for our NIL buck this year. This roster was pretty solid on paper. Yes, there were some guys that needed to continue to develop and improve, but to me, that was the main problem that development and improvement never took place.

You look back at guys that have left the program recently, and a lot of the major contributors are absolutely SMASHING it elsewhere. Uzan at Houston. Oweh at UK. Duke at Vandy. lol, Harkless is an NBA guy now. There were others that transferred out and weren't stars, but were good players.

Point being, I think we can spend a little more on next season's roster and maybe not even have a roster that is as good as what we had this year, on paper. We probably aren't going to grab a guard that has been a top 2 player on a FF team (Pack). I doubt we get an athletic freak with the size/length of Davis for the 4 spot. We'll see if we end up with 3 centers with the combined potential of Wague/Russian/Rogers. Jones' won't be super easy to replace outside of the scoring.

@BoulderSooner what’s the record for most posts in a thread? This one will break the record (if it hasn’t already)

I’m with you on this. My only concerns at the start of this season was our depth at 5 and the coach sitting on the bench.

Denny is saying that the community needs to support the team more? Is Denny going to join Moser at the fraternity houses now? Yet another example of how Denny has no idea what the hell he's talking about. Dude obviously hasn't been paying attention. Besides a few times lately that I can count on less than a hand, OU fans have TRIED and TRIED again to come out and support the team in big games. But any time OU has a big game and a good crowd, the team royally craps the bed. This guy has invented ways to lose big games. Has Denny done any homework on this, at all? Wow. Such a bizarro world. Will be 6 years of groundhog day again next year at this time. Congrats OU fans, enjoy!

You think the AD at Oklahoma has no idea what hes talking about?

The level of delusion is wild.

I try not to get in these micro penis personal attacks so many of you participate in, but dude, your act is so tired. Just, shut up.... please? Gaahhh. Yes, by his statement, I do believe he doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to support. He also doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to saying OU has an underdog mentality. Anything else?

Not a personal attack. What act? common sense?

But answering the AD knows less than what this board knows is asinine.

Dude is running a 500mil operation... maybe more or less. not looking it up.

This AD has been vetted from congressman to governors to OU's best star players and you think hes uninformed... thats delusional.

The ones LOTS of us are sick of are - the ones with this non stop negative BS 100% of the time. I can’t imagine it being any fun. I’ve said for awhile he’d be back and the same ones keep spinning in circles about it. Can’t wait for basketball season to get here! Yes I’ll contribute more. And I’ve seen some OU basketball going back to Clifford Ray and Gar Heard days..

He's also 1 month into the job...

Denny obviously has experience but his experience at OU is limited. People don’t just show up for basketball. You have to give them some hope. There is a long history of this. I often reference the Texas game a few years ago where people had hope and showed up and then the team looked like they hadn’t slept in 3 days. That was probably the last time we had that kind of crowd.

Perhaps he knows this and is just spitting out some political stuff. That’s my guess. But his experience from Illinois that he references is not the same as OU. The population of the states is much different, an NBA team next door here is more impactful than it is there. And, they (Illinois) don’t really kill it on filling up their football stadium either, except when they occasionally have a good team throughout the entire season.

You dont think he's interviewed Porter?

Stephenson, Prez, Joe, BMD's

You think he just ChatGPT an answer and rolled with it?

Its literally his first major decision... You think he wants to F it up?
Dumb questions bc well of course..

he can only consume what he can consume in 1 month

ok. 1 month. AD of one of the most historic Athletic programs in History making uninformed decisions.

Great conversation.

He’s been there long enough to handle that decision. Its also a reversible one. Fire Moser after its well known we have bottom of the barrel NIL and fan support and the price goes up and great candidates don’t answer your calls. Not a risky decision from an exec pov. The right one actually.

Now I wish we could have held onto the people Moser found long enough to have them learn his system .. which seems to take 75% of the season to get. He finds great players others overlook, then loses them immediately and starts over.

Fix the resources, then fix the coach .. if you can. If not (or won’t.. JoeC) then you fire him two years ago instead of extending and find a hall of fame coach.
