KRUGER! KRUGER! KRUGER! KRUGER!

Man Im so ready for him to start working with the guys and hopefully get a commit or two!

I'm very happy with the hire as are most fans. Even the fans who are lukewarm on Kruger concede that he's won everywhere he's been. They honeymoon period won't last though. We have to at least make the NIT next year. Hopefully, he can get some recruits in here who can help us do that.

New coach, this late in the recruiting season.....he gets a free pass from me next year on wins/losses. As long as they guys play hard, and I can tell what we're trying to do on O and D, that will be good enough for me.

And even if we get frustrated in year 2 or 3, Lon isn't going anywhere. No way we can afford to get rid of another coach so quickly. He is here for the long run.

A free pass? Not from me, man. My heart can't take another losing season.

Lots of news to look forward to:

> Assistant coaches

> Player workouts this summer

> 2011 recruits

> 2012 recruits

:clap

My point isn't that you have to be happy about it, but it won't do any good to get upset, or to call for his job. He isn't going anywhere. Not for a long time. This is our coach, win or lose, for the next several seasons.

The unity will not last very long. Just like there was/is with Sampson, there is a group of hardcore Capel loyalists on here that will take any chance they can to rip him. Just wait and see.

I don't think it will be THAT bad this time around...I thought Capel should get one more year, with this hire I have officially changed my mind.

As far as I'm concerned this is a very crucial time for OU BASKETBALL. The sampson and capel eras are over. It is very important that all current fans of OU BASKETBALL get on board and behind Coach Kruger and this program. I am so excited to watch how he goes about re-tooling this program. His assistant hires, recruiting, and how he markets this program. I think the coaching community around him will give him the best support that they can. Right now we need some players. LET'S GO COACH KRUGER!!! BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!:clap

I agree.

For the most part in 2010-11, the kids played hard but had little direction. Maybe a little direction will make them more competitive.

I do know there are a number of four star recruits on the roster and we can hope to see progress with this basketball team as we move forward.

I just never understood this line of thinking. Why do certain fans refuse to accept a new coach. It's almost like a political argument.

I would hope the fans would lose this attitude. It's what gives a program a black-eye. For instance, all of the talk of not supporting the program under KS because people didn't like his offensive game plan and not going to the games, had an affect on being able to attract the type of coach this program deserved (based on where the program stood nationally) when we hired Capel. The same thing can be said for this last hire. If the building was still being filled up night in and night out, you would've had an easier time attracting a good coach. I understand there are other issues too and it's hard to attend these games when the product is sub par, but lack of attendance is one of the big detractors for getting great coaches AND great players to choose our school.

It's really a double-edged sword.

Yep. I have never understood dwelling on the past to the detriment of the present. It is the nature of college athletics that coaches' and players' impact if temporary. Coaches retire, leave, get fired. Players graduate, leave early, get pushed out. Even in the best programs there are cycles of excellence and mediocrity. Coaches and players who excel and leave on good terms should retain our affections.

But the most important coach and players are the ones we have right now. They are the only ones competing and the only ones who can win. Former players and coaches can no longer chalk up wins to our account. Capel had my support while he was our coach. I will cherish the memories of going to Memphis to watch our team beat Syracuse and play North Carolina for a trip to the final four. It is silly to let what happened after that game and season tarnish the memories.

Now it is time to look forward to new memories. And those can only come from Kruger and the players here now and the ones we can bring in. I want to help them excel. I want to support them. It is not helpful to constantly compare them to coaches and players long gone. The past cannot be relived. Life is in the present. I am hopeful that our present situation will lead to a good future. And I will do my darnedest to enjoy the heck of that future if it comes to fruition.
