For those of you questioning Coach Capel's

I went to the opening game this season, and I was disgusted by the fan support. Opening game and we barely filled up a 1/4 of the stadium. There are high school gyms that got more people in them then that night. Theres no such thing as home court advantage at LNC. Tickets aren't that expensive. ALL THIS TELLS ME IS THAT THIS SITE IS MADE UP OF A BUNCH OF PEOPLE WHO RATHER ***** ABOUT THE TEAM AND THE COACH THAN ACTUALLY GO SUPPORT THEM. You people turn on a dime. When the teams winning you say Capels a good coach and you all support the team. When the team is struggling, you say the team sucks and the coach.

You all have been ranking coach's on here lately and putting Capel close to last.
You guys want Ford, you can have him. You say Ford is a good coach b/c he's made the tournament 2 straight years; what about this year when he doesn't make it. And the 1st year he coached OSU, they underachieved. He was left with 4 solid guards and he kicked off both of his starting post players. All his team does is get around 8 assist and 18 TOs a game.

If you want Drew, you can have him. Theres no denying that Drew can recruit, but I am not sold on his coaching ability. His team should have won the big 12 last year, not finish where they did. How many times did he have a solid team and only make it to the NIT? He's the Calipari of the Big 12.

KU fans were *****ing about Self and wanting him fired. If they had gotten their way, they wouldn't have another championship banner in their gym.

Capel can recruit, coach and win...He did it before he got to OU and he did it 3 straight years at OU. Last year he underachieved, this year is where we expected this team to be and I expect next year to be back to a winning season.

Good Grief

Capel is a terrible coach, this team has lost how many games in the last 15? We have lost 4 in a row this year. Capel has lost over 33 games by double digits. He is a finger pointer blaming the players and the fans. How many players has he ran off in the last 5 years?

It is time to make a change. The fan base will agree with me. OU will have its worst fan sport since before Tubbs. The OU women will average 30% more fans in the stands.

OU is the worst team in the big 12 this year.

I have zero confidence this coach can turn the ship around.

If you are happy with the direction of the program good luck.

Who cares about Eric maynor we have lost 4 in a row.

Absolutely agree.

If I am ignorant then why don't you educate as to Capel's system? What is that he is trying to accomplish? Does he run a motion offense? Does he run the one four set Sampson liked or does he put 5 guys on the court that shoot whenever they want including low percentage 3 point shots?

What is the defensive system? Does OU trap? Does OU press? Does OU play zone? Does OU play man to man?

Every good coach had/has a system that is readily apparent. I have no freaking clue what Capel's system is. I have no clue what the identity of his teams are. I know what Blake Griffin's system was and I know what his identity was but I simply cannot say that about OU. (If you don't know, Griffin's system was to take the ball to the rim and preferably throw down a monster dunk and his identity was to play harder than everyone else on the floor, particularly on the offensive end.)

I try not to get into all the recruiting mess debate because that's hard for outsiders to tell....but this above is spot on. I sit and watch OU and think what in the world are they doing. What are they trying to run? It's baffling.

Newsflash: when you go 13-18 one season and leave little hope to be any better the next season, PEOPLE AREN'T GOING TO SHOW UP. I don't care if it's OU, Duke, North Carolina, Indiana, Kansas, wherever, people aren't going to show up. Nor should they. Why do people act like it is some inherent responsibility that fans pay to go to the games and watch a terrible product? This doesn't happen in the pros. If you put a crappy product on the field/court in the pros, people don't pay to watch it. Everyone seems to be okay with that, but then people come on here and rip OU fans that don't want to show up and watch the team that's probably going to win about 8-10 games.

That being said, I hope you're right about Capel. One thing I do know: it is win or bust next season. If he doesn't make the tournament then I want him fired, and every sensible OU fan should want the same. Some of you need to stop selling our basketball program short by acting like it is foolish to expect more - MUCH more - than what we are currently getting.

If OU doesnt win 12 games this year I would want him fired this year. I mean, we are talking about OU basketball here. I shouldnt have to be hoping that the team wins 12 games, lol. But, if they do win at least 12 games I will support one more year given that Goff and Osby are supposed to be legit.

Where to start...

Please name a HS venue in Oklahoma which puts 3,000 in the stands every night. TIA

Question: then who is to blame for the team being bad? David Boren? Construction on Lindsey St? Seasonably warm weather? Please let me know so I can direct my disappointment in that direction. I don't blame the players, not their fault they jumped at the opportunity to play at OU...they are just not good enough. Simple as that, should have not been recruited. On a personal note, would go to much more OU games if I lived closer...hell I attend 7-8 SMU home games a year because I love college basketball, and they are awful.

Would love to underachieve and just make the tournament at this point. In addition, they waltzed into the Ford Center and beat us full strength to kill our #1 seed...give the guy some credit. What about last year? People wrote them off and they make the tourney...definitely overachieved given preseason expectations...never heard that uttered about Capel while at OU.

Should of won the Big XII? KU and KSU were pretty salty. You're losing concept with reality at this point, but I will continue. Not completely sold on Drew, but give the man some credit, Baylor was on the verge of the death penalty and he changed the landscape. They are relevant right now in the Big XII...is OU? Calling him the Calipari is a huge compliment, not sure if you noticed, but Cal wins games.

KU fans were *****ing about Self and wanting him fired. If they had gotten their way, they wouldn't have another championship banner in their gym.

...and some OU fans want Bob Stoops gone. What is your point? Irrational fans are everywhere.

I totally agree Capel can recruit and coach...but that doesn't mean he has done a great job as of late. Hope he gets it together and I still want him to have next year to round this out. However, if the admin thinks a change is warranted, I can grasp the idea why they would make the move.

Some of you guys just don't live in reality. Bad seasons happen to all teams. If you want to say that we are one of the top programs then fine. UNC, UCONN, UCLA, S'Cuse, and Florida have all missed the NCAA tournament within the past few years. If the top coaches in America can struggle how can you expect good coaches not to have struggle here or there. And these coach's shouldn't have any excuses with the talent they bring in year in and year out. THIS IS REALITY...Kids in high school don't automatically have us on their list like they do with Duke, KU, UK, UNC, UConn and UCLA. Capel went after Jones, Lamb, Barnes, Clark and McCallum and was only able to land one. He lost out to UK, a father, and UNC. He's out there recruiting and trying to get these top kids to have interest in us and right now the 2012 class has quite a few interested in us.

I understand your argument for 2012 bgrch even thought I agree that its loaded especially regionally with Texas. Capel does good work on the recruiting trail with the highly ranked kids. The only problem is he's not getting enough of the right type of talented kids (for example of the wrong kinds, Tiny and TMG).

The main momentum he had with these kids was based on an elite 8 run and well Blake. The good news is he can still point to Blake but back to back losing records is going to get him roasted by coaches who negatively recruit. They're going to say "why go to Oklahoma, they're losing a bunch of games plus they're a football school, no fan support, etc." (pains me to type it as much as I love this program but its the sad sad truth)

He's fighting an uphill battle already and his car just rolled back down the hill to back to where he started. It really bothers that 5 years in we're more or less back to stage one with the only thing to show for it is Blake Griffin.

I'm just not sure if Capel can right the ship with his recruiting patterns and the way he coaches. I would love to be proven wrong as that would mean some great Sooner basketball coming soon but at this point my faith isn't very strong.

There are some pretty rationale and long term fans questioning Capel. His Big XII record is unacceptable. His supporters want to use the Blake griffin years but I personally think those years make it even worse because he has done so bad in the other years that he has a losing record when you include those seasons. This season is going to be brutal. OU could finish last in the conference

Listen, I have been in the Capel corner since middle of last year when people began to digress. Wouldn't even be too upset if he got another year to see what happens with Taylor and Osby coming off redshirt and Goff transferring in. Fact is we have been below average every year Blake was not wearing crimson...and he is currently on pace to be ROY and probably be the first rookie to make an All-Star team since Tim Duncan.

Blake is great...no doubt about that. But you can't take him away from OU/Capel and allow other coaches to be able to keep their studs. And it wasn't just him that got us to the elite 8. T. Griffin, Pattillo, Johnson, and Warren helped lead this team as well.
