He has a great breakdown of several plays over the past two or three games showing how Lon is great at creating mismatches. Of all the themes I see on the board, the belief that we never run offense and that Lon doesn’t design anything other is the craziest.

FOr me, i've never said that Lon can't design or run offense. But in the past, in many, many cases OU's offense has consisted of one guy dribbling and four standing around the perimeter watching. And then that guy jacking up a terrible shot. So, I have no doubt that Fran is right. But that doesn't take away the fact that in the last few years there's been many very ugly and ineffective stretches. Why he wasn't able to ever change that in many stretches is a head scratcher. Because....

Now the half court offense looks great. Not sure what's changed. Guys are moving and passing and cutting, like i've wished for, for quite awhile now. Also, we have more guys rebounding and the guards' rebounding is off the charts. Those are just two things that look so much better.

The fact that many times the offense looked so ugly with all the standing around, makes what's going now on look so much the better. So, yes it looks good now, but anyone in the past who thought it looked like we never ran anything, or didn't know how to was completely justified... because we weren't, and it was ugly.

This is the 4th highest PPG since LK has been here (10 years). I think the main difference is this is only the 3rd team who can score & get stops equally as well.

Also going with a 4 guard lineup where they can all drive, slash, & finish well is another reason they seem to cut more. I guarantee LK emphasized those things, this years team is just better at it.

I was wondering about that... Is it the guards? Our two transfers seem great at flowing. Faking, driving, passing, etc. Since they've come on the scene it's looked great! Fun to watch..

Gibson really doesn't cut or pass great, he mostly spreads the floor. I think Reaves is a really good passer, Alondes is a freak athletically, Kur is a lob threat, & Hill is a good slasher. The 2 main things I see as the improvement this year is Harmon's ability to shoot which has allowed him to get crowded, making it easier for him to drive. Then Harkless' emergence has just took this team to a different level than earlier in the year.

Yep, having players that are better at executing an offensive strategy makes good coaches even better, it seems. Kruger has always been one of the top offensive (and defensive) coaches in the nation, it just becomes much more obvious when he's got the pieces to make it all work.

Yes, if there is any frustration (and I don’t think there is much) it is not with plays we run. It is when we stop running plays.

There is always that fine line between milking clock and ending with a poor or no shot; versus shooting too early though when you have a lead. We as fans always get emotional when we watch leads disappear.

OU does run offense, but they often fall into prolonged scoreless stretches, which frustrates me for sure. During those times, it feels like they don't execute on the mismatch game very well. Maybe those are times when OU doesn't really have mismatches on the floor, which is why having versatile players is the key. Stretch 4s (Manek) and slashing guards (Harkless) can cause problems. Offense is pretty simple really, get into the paint and good things happen. Whether it is with the dribble or the pass. OU has Reaves, Harmon, Harkless, Williams and even Gibson (to a less degree) who can get into the paint. Offense is easy if this happens consistently
