Fran on Niang

I like Fran. I just thought last night was a bit extreme. I thought he did a good job outside of the excessive praise of Niang.

Like was mentioned above, Buddy got a TON of coverage during both trips to Hawaii. I'm sure that played a factor in giving Niang "a little" more of the spotlight last night.

Right. And the guy was tremendous. Complaining about the announcers rightly talking about how great an opponent played strikes me as whining about the ridiculous.

Did anyone on the court outplay Niang last night? In my view, we won because Buddy had a lot more help than Niang did, not because Buddy, or anyone else, outplayed Niang. So what are we complaining about? It's like we won a huge game and need something to complain about, so let's complain about how often Fran told us how great Niang was playing.

If we beat KU tomorrow night, what are we going to find to complain about?

I don't mind that Fran gave Niang props, he deserves them. But it did seem to get a little over the top at times. "OMG! WAS THAT OVER THE BACKBOARD???"

I didn't get to hear the broadcasters during my viewing, but I am absolutely sure it was a drop in the bucket compared to Verne Lundquist's verbal tongue bathing he gave the Spartans and Izzo during the sweet 16.
